Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

got all except the sub. I'm almost half way through the Pz IVJ. Just as a heads up, the plastic is softer than most and so when sanding or filing you really have to watch. A couple of areas of mine the plastic is off coloured also. All in all though a really nice build except the gun. It was a fiddly nightmare and as the hatches will be closed I didn't complete it. Also watch when building the gun. Its a bit sloppy at the muzzle. Oh and the return rollers. The ones I used I saw stated on a thread they are wrong and an after war thing. But in my books I am sure I saw them in use. Anyways Hope no one notices.
James
Hi James, the sub update is actually the wrong one. I bought the Mk 9 set which is larger. I didn't realise I had picked the wrong picture. I will get the Mk7 set next as they are pretty expensive and will need a little time to save up again.
Thanks for the 'heads-up' on the Panzer 4J. I got this kit because I love panzer 4 H and J's. Something about the final production versions with German tanks and the end of the war thing:eyeroll::hmm: . Also it is great value with multiple versions and a full interior. This means what I don't use I can use on another one in my stash that has no interior etc. I will check out the return roller situation and clarify for you.:good:
The Mk 3 M is nice but it does look as though they have based a lot of their detail and construction/ molding layout on the Gunze hull from the 90's (as did the early Dragon kits), except they have fixed detail where required. I was hoping that they would have matched the Dragon Mk3 kits by detailing the final drive casing on the hull and detail under the track guards but Dragon still kicks everyones butt with their Mk3 variants detail.

Yeah I have not really looked at the Takom ones. I just got another 4 Dragon Smart kits and in my books they are the best. Looking at the Border Models the Late J I got is pretty nice and looks like a simpler construction to the Rye Field. I have one and 2 G's to do and just got some decals for my F1 to make a Hungarian version.

The man closet has been broken down and is in Storage, but the stash goes on! This is a terrible picture, but I does what I can does. The Revell and MPC kits are ones I built as a slight and callow youth (? ME?) The others were just great priced and I just wanted them. The Eduard kit is the Fokker D.VI (never heard of it) and should be an interesting build in 1/48. I am getting decals for all of the 1/72d, since the decals are crap and perhaps a cockpit for the B-57 as there is nothing except pilots in a block of plastic that Revell calls a "cockpit." Happy modeling y'all!

I know what you mean, I love the Dragon Mk4 smart kits to. Just like the Mk3's they have detailed underneath the track guards which just goes that extra mile for the kind of detailing I am looking for when doing damage or knocked out versions.
Looking forward to your completion on the F1 Hungarian version. Were they the ones that were painted in dark green all over?

On the return rollers.......I have been able to find all the versions in my references for WW2 mK4 j's..... Panzertracts, Panzerwrecks, Actung Panzer.

Either the Rumanians or Hungarians repainted their Mk4 H's in a dark green base.

I need to update my post, the Romanians also repainted their T-4 (Pz.Kpfw. IV) in green postwar.

The Hungarians didn't repaint theirs either.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Bulgarians which did repaint them in Russian 4BO to ensure their new allies (since they switched) wouldn't attack them? Note the shield insignia to replace the slanted cross (X):

Wow, awesome scores! Looks like the German Army is growing here. Nice figure vignette too. Looking forward to seeing it done.
