Eduard 1/48 IL-2M Shturmovik * Completed *

Eduard 1/48 IL-2M Shturmovik

All glued up without not much grief! fit is pretty good on this one, slight gaps on a few joins so sanded with 600 grade while he Ca was just about dry, added a thin line of Ca on some of the joins that needed more, sanded again and that worked out fine.

Primer coat next up to see how the joins look

I'm just going to do my usual paint base of all silver for the acrylics and not worry about showing paint chipping over the wood sections in yet another contentious ''what color primer was used over the wooden structures'' of this one, I think it's just too much hassles to worry about

masked the flying tank up tonight for the underside blue, hopefully tomorrow will be sunny, did the bombs and rockets and the rear Mg, added the Pe to the dust filter, instructions call for the removal of the plastic filter, then just glue the Pe dust filter cylinder in place - for further strength i sanded the plastic filter down so it fitted snug inside the Pe, painted the plastic filter with Tamiya's rattle can black then dipped it into Mr Hobby Stainless steel, polished it then used Tamiya panel line black, when dried slid the Pe over it and glued it tight, this now can be fitted after the main colours are done.

the silver cap and outline of the filter mesh will be painted accordingly to the aircraft colours

and guessed the colours of the bombs and rockets - plain silver seemed a bit weird.

Phil I hope you don't have any gaps to fill on those figures. Might mess with the swell paint job you have so far. :popcorn

At the risk of being called a dumb S....what's up with the wooden clothes pegs?
You have pairs of two clinging on each other,is it to have more stability?

Mighty fine work on this Sovietski aircraft Phil! (y)

Greetings,Ron.

Cheers!

MP there usually is some gaps, Ca glue then a bit of light sanding, then touch up the paint and all is well.

Hi Ron thanks, yes for stability while the paint is drying, plus I mark each one with the corresponding parts for each figure - A B C etc same with that box, has areas marked out when I clean up each part so they don't get mixed up

First of the three topside colours on today, Aeromaster Warbird acrylic mixed and sprayed faultlessly with Tamiya acrylic thinners.
