Wreaking Havoc 4: A-20G-35-DO Butch, the last one from the 2nd batch

The R2D (Resin 2 Detail) upgraded engines are sublime...

While looking for missing parts, came across a bag with all these figures. Brought back memories of how many kits I USED to finish!

The plastic boxes on the top left are from Teknics, the one at top right with red cardboard header is Reheat, but I don't recall the white metal ones. Almost all the plastic figures, except André the Giant, pointing to the Reheat red label, seem to be from Monogram kits. The only kit with paratroopers was the C-47. The one on all fours to the left of the light gray giant is probably from the P-61 Black Widow kit. I see one Clark tractor driver from the Liberator kit and many from others.

Guns, guns, guns! From Resin2Detail. Made for the B-17 but I 'll take all without the flash hiders. Also, full 50 Cal for the flxible guns... At the top right is a 72nd scale set of gun barrels (although I can't think of a project in 72nd scale that needs them):

Not a fan of resin guns as they always seem bent to me :) like those ones for shooting round corners ;-). I am sure there is a way to straighten them but i never found it. It was always a problem with the resin detail kits from Eduard and Aires.

I found a way to perfectly straighten was by an immersion into very hot water, allow them to relax into the shape they were in the mold using its 'memory' then carefully and slowly remove from the hot water. Never failed and I have a video somewhere. I'll update this when I find it. It is here.

The issue here is that these are 3D printed and not sure of the resin behavior. So, I will test it and post. In any case, I have spare metal barrels for them.

Since I have three A-20G with turrets, I need to ensure that the foot rest is corrected.

I bent the wire 90 degrees but that is too much, it seems more like 45 degrees... easy fix though!

Looking at the foot rest in the photo, there are two bends. The first is jut below the mounts and looks to be about 20 degrees or so. The second is what you have and brings the lower part to the 45 degrees. Also if you look real close there appears to be a thin plate filling the lower part from the second bend down.

Yes, it was noted as well as the fact it is not adjustable (mine was adjustable up and down). So, I need to create a jig as I have three turrets to do!

As I wrote, I am working on all five together. Here, the control surfaces are being worked on since I have two sets of Kendall Model Company's (KMC's) replacements:

Excellent book... Not as complete as the other one I posted.

André the Giant is from the Hawk/Testors/Italeri T-33A kit:

Time to point out detail bits for any modeler working on the Havoc.

This is what the kit includes. This is the wingtip from the start of the A-20G-1-DO to about the A-20G-30-DO (I may correct this range later). Note that the teardrop shaped bulb is the navigation light while the bulb in the clear aft half of the wingtip is a formation light. It should not be green/red.

Compare that to the full clear wingtip incorporating both starting with the A-20G-30-DO (this one is serial 43-9716 from the 647th Bomb Squadron, 413th Bombardment Group, 9th AF, after a hard landing in England on the 28th of May,1944):

Many make the mistake of thinking that the wingtips are painted in a light color, such as white, instead of realizing that the complete wingtip is clear. It is a change I need to make.

More examples of clear wingtips which many thought were white painted:

Colwings were worked on by deepening the paired exhaust ejectors and working on adding the individual exhaust pipes under each cover:

Yes, I can take the easy way out and simply buy the QuickBoost cowlings:
