Whats your handle?

One of my friends in collage had several friends all named Mike, so each one got a nickname. There was Angry Mike, Greek Mike... Etc. since I am 5'10 and 130lbs soaking wet, yep you guessed it - Skinny Mike! And now nearly 20 years later, everyone calls me skinny Mike. Most people don't even know my last name or if I even have one!

I thot that was the case (y) Had a few friends named Jim so, gave them nicknames & one got tagged with Slim Jim...

Mom and Dad named me Paul. I wanted the Reaper but nnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooo the just HAD to name me Paul.

The story goes that 30 odd years ago I had started in a new high school. My senior year I went out for football as one of the seniors my junior year told me that I would never make it. Well for me it was misery. Every practice there was something that caused me pain. But I kept showing up. One of my team mates, turned into one of my oldest and dearest friends, gave me two nicknames. Fighting Joe and Jumping Joe. Fast forward to 1994 and my initial joining of FSM and their forum one night and the first user name I came up with was fighting joe. However mate my uneducated fingers and a quick keyboard and fightnjoe was born. A simple slip of the finger.

Joe

In the ten years or so I've seen you on the LEM, I've seen that same fighting spirit applied to your life and your hobby as you fought to improve yourself and your situation. I remember your first models were pretty rough. But as time went on you got better and better, far surpassing me in quality and detail; until now you're doing some jaw-droppingly amazing cutaways. I admire and respect you for your fighting spirit and that same spirit keeps me going when things get tough. I can't think of a more appropriate handle for anyone.

Mine came from my Army's unit's, D Troop 3/4 Cav., call sign which was Centaurs. The tail number of my favorite Cobra was 67-15567. We used the last three digits to identify which chopper. The avatar is my units patch. It has on it 827 which was the first Cobra I crewed till it was shot down. Opps, didn't notice that this is such an old thread. Gary S.

Well it looks like my story fell off at some point.

Moon Puppy was a drinking game that was invented back in my college days, not that I went to college, just partied with the college crowd. The guy who invented it was a career student, probably in his 40s. Loved by all. The rules, whatever he said during the game. Rules changed during the game.

Anyway, when the internet came around I needed a handle. At the same time Roger was battling diabetes, about this time I saw him, he was in a wheel chair and had lost a leg. Of course he had a drop dead gorgeous blond wheeling him around so he still had game!

So I decided to take the handle Moon Puppy with "Feaster" in mind. :mpup

Lol, we all got em and many come from noticeable mistakes for goofy mishaps. I got hit with one after a long night of partyin when I was in construction, never made it to the commode, but I can't recall it right now,............................ Oh, you can guess what that one was.:(

My mil call sign was Ski, and it's never left, just like, Mac, etc. Good Irish names, HA!

I've been "Rhino" since 2nd grade. An obvious contraction of Rhiner.
Many moons ago, while enjoying the photos of scantily clad young beauties, I griped about not liking sand with naked boobs.
Yup. "Sandman". No connection to Logan's Run. I never did care for it.

My Father was a contractor ,
And In my free time, no school, I always wanted to go to the worksites .

And some of the workers had a nickname
He gave me Piet... I had my own tool belt, and in my younger years I was responsible for straightening nails.

And the name stuck to this day ,
Friends , acquaintances still call me Piet.
My oldest brother calls me Pietje (Means small piet )

My real name is Maarten ,For english speaking people it sounds like Martin

That's awesome!

My Dad was one of those hard-boiled old guys that never could utter the words "I love you" or "I'm proud of you". When he called me "Butch" I understood that was as close as he was ever going to get. The day we flew our Tri-Pacer through the clouds he said "Take 'er, Butch." No one else ever called me by that moniker.
