Vallejo Desert Sand Effect

I am in the process of gathering ideas for a small North Africa diorama and was just wondering if anybody has ever used Vallejo's Desert Sand ground effect and what they thought about it. http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Scenery_Construction/VLJ00026217/product.php

My LHS got in the sand, snow, and water products. I cant say a lot about them yet, but the sand is in a paste almost like toothpaste consistency. Its gritty and when I put some on a small paper plate did not stain. It held its shape as I made marks in it. I want to use it for my Valentine if I get that done. The other use I can see for it is walkways on planes and anti skid on tanks. Sorry I cant tell you more at the moment. I might have some time this weekend to play a bit more though.

Thanks for the help James. I was basically trying to find out if it would be easy to create footprints and tire tracks in it and it sounds like it would be.
