two street rods...finished

two street rods...body and chasis

terry many thanks.

ok time for a brief update.

when last we saw the twins the painting of the body and chassis had begun. with this came a major screw up and with a discovery.

i had progressed to the engine work. i went through my process again and had another screw up and yet another discovery.

i had started the process by painting the not show all rust. i then painted model masters aluminum. i went to try to use the same gloss to show some of the rust and it took all the paint off. i then backed up, reshot the rust and then the meatalizer, when that got tacky i then used a toothbrush and water and removed some of the metal paint. it came out very decent. the show i painted flat black and then gloss black. i sanded a bunch and then hit it with about twelve coats of future. still has some pitting but it is much better and i will be living with it.

The rusted car is looking great but I think that shine on the show car needs some work. Are you sanding the clear coats? It looks dusty.

mp you are definitely right. it does appear dusty. got to say some may be the paintjob but some is actually dust as it has been sitting for some time as i have been working on the rat rod and the engine and such.

Let that clear coat cure up Joe then give it a light and progressive sanding, starting with some course up to superfine sand paper. Then hit it with some clear again and see how it looks. Some of the car guys can give you lot better info on this than I can, I've done the high shine stuff a couple of times to various degrees of success, or total lack of it I should say.

mp it is great advice and i may do that. however i have to say the urge to build something with wings is dang awful overpowering right now. along with that is an equally large overpowering urge to do something with a huge amount of detail.

i am thinking i am a pretty sick individual in the head.
