Hey Guys & Gals,

Here's Tamiya's Big Kitty. It's th re-issue of Their 'ol school 70's kit. It was painted with Tamiya paints, dry brushed with th base color to add some wear to th paint, & some of rust ModelMakerZ pigments to th mufflers. The periscopes were made from 4.8mmx2.5mm Evergreen strip & th lenses were painted with,th top half in Tamiya Clear Blue & the bottom half in Tamiya Clear Green. The hooks & supports for th Tow cables were also made from spare P.E. fret.

I still need to go in & add some weathering. I thought that th decals were a little too thick, doing it again I would opt for a stencil ( If any one makes them ?) I did find out later that RB Barrel makes 1/25th scale turned barrels ... Outta Wood & They look Great !

I relocated the Tools a-la the 654th PanzerJager Abtl, locators for th tool rack were filled with Mr.Dissolved Putty. I added the deck screen using Aber's set for the 1/25th scale Academy kit. I got these from Artistic Hobbies . Even though they are made for the Academy keep , they are a spot-on exact fit !

WOW!!! This is one cool kitty (y) (y) (y) Wonderful build, Erik. Love that working suspension, the details look great. Any problem areas with this kit? Look forward to your weathering.

RANDY,

Thanx for th kind words ! I tell ya' , The only real problems are just th 70's mold. This Kitty would really Rock/Benefit from the Aber 1/25th Tool Clasps Tool Clasps kit post '43 set.. & RB Barrel's turned wood Barrel ( 25B16. They share th same gun with the King Tiger) You will have to fix a couple of seams up front, IF , you don't want to try some Nano R.C. gear ( I don't know if they even make any ?) to make it Remote Control. The body is meant to be able to open & get into it. It kinda snaps, but right up front on th sides at th fenders, There is a spot I need to fill in & make seamless. I'm also gonna drop back & add some Weld beads, out of Mr.Dissolved Putty along th sides, where th upper & lower hulls come together.

The suspension arms fit through a "key way" in the outer side & fit into another "key way" inside the hull. It really works under it's own weight ! I can't wait to get Her on a Base showing off the suspension ! (y)

Weathering th is Kitty wil be a lot of Fun, due in no small part to the scale !

ERIK

Nice writeup Erik, that is one big'ol target!

MOONIE,

Thanx. I think, after reading Karl-Heinz Munchs' book on the 654th, They had more Mechanical breakdowns that anything else ....

Sherm & Raider - Thanx for th kind words ! I'll be diving into this very Soon !!

That's awesome Erik! it's coming clean off the base...really nice and simple base that adds a lot to something that's already a lot.

Thanx for th kind words Guys !! The base is made from the Pink 2" thick Insulation foam used in Building. It's designed to go between the Brick & Cinderblock of a Building. I just used a 32 tooth hack saw blade to carve out th land & make a Raised Roadway. I then used Sculpt-a-Mold for the ground work , colored with Tan/brown-ish craft paint from Wal-Mart mixed it with some Elmer's glue & water.

I applied the Tall Grass & dried flowers while it was still wet & added some Beach Sand( from the Outer Banks, N.C.) for the "dirt road". I Set th JP in the ground work while it was still wet & added the flowers around it. I was going for a look of Motion with th JP traversing the road to Field & accentuate the Workable suspension & to give it some Motion ??
