Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP small update 5-18

I started my Tamiya Jagdtiger and it's moving along pretty well. It'a great kit to assemble, construction has been straight foward, and now it's almost ready for some paint.I am going to dress it up as Jim Henlsley did in the book "The Modelers Guide to Jagdpanzer"which has proved a great aid.

Re:Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP

You're off to a great start, do you have a color scheme plannd yet?

Re:Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP

Yes Mike,I plan to use the ambush scheme pictured in the book in my fist picture.

Re:Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP

Very cool. One thing I have never understood is why they put the mg34 out on the engine deck where the crew member was so exposed to everything. Just cant figure it.

Your big cat looks really good! When I get my bench cleared off I've got to do something German.

They didn't put it in the commanders hatch because (according to my Dad who was a sherman Radio Op) nothing pisses a crew off more than having hot MG cases falling down the back of your neck just because the commander thinks he's deadeye dick with a machine gun

Re:Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP

looks good so far! i am getting ready to paint mine, look out for those hidden injector pin marks on track links and on the underside of rear track guards  aside from that it is a very lovely big cat (y) i am enjoying mine alot :woohoo:

Re:Tamiya Jagdtiger WIP

All right. Some more heavy metal :ro: . This one is going to look nice with that paint job.

Another possibility about that MG being out there, was that the bright bulb that came up with the idea, never had to be "out there" firing the thing at anyone :S .

Gosh, seeing it built up makes me want to build mine! Can't wait to see it with some paint on it.

Nice start!

I've always liked the Jagdtiger. The last time I built one was back in the eighties! This makes me want build another one!

Keep going!

I got the Friuls assembled,94 links per side + the spare tracks.I also assembled all the road wheels, idlers, and sprockets, and attached the tools. The big guy is ready for some paint, but I must layoff for a little while to finish up another project.I am leaning toward leaving the skirts off,as I think it looks leaner and meaner without them. Also this will be my first attempt at painting the equipment while attached to the vehicle. Thanks for looking.
