Special Hobby P-39Q Airacobra

At most you would see one bullet coming out of a gun. Remember that they are each moving very fast and there will be a lot more space between bullets than you have room in your dio.

I have this printing in clear now. I will let you know if it worked out!

Sorry for the absence! Lord have mercy, life is so getting in my way. Mom, moving the store, moving in with mom, my brother helping himself to 100K of her money, trying to get most of it back, etc etc etc. What a freakshow :bash:

I have worked on the pkane here and there. I got the Allied pilots kit in and did a super quick paint job on the American pilot with a Russian right arm.

I am trying out a new line of enamel paint. MCW, Model Car World, that I just got in for the store. BTW, here is my new logo:

The plane was black based then my usual squiggly line Alclad II chrome paint under-weathering. I thinned MCW matte white with their reducer about 60% paint/40% reducer and painted the tail. I taped off the tail and used MCW FS34087 Olive Drab on the top in several thin coats until I got the opacity I wanted. Underneath is the white with Model Master light blue added.

I tried to do a trick with the propeller by making the nosecone in Blender, then making a single propeller and angling it, then making an array of multiple blades and spinning them around the nosecone. I created a shape then used it to erase a section of blades to make a tri-spinning illusion, then printed it in clear resin. It is not convincing but novel enough that I am leaving it.

I have sprayed clear gloss enamel on the plane in prep for decals and am waiting for it to cure.

Anyway, now going to take mom some lunch. I hope to check in more often. See ya!

Sorry to hear about what your mom is going through. Several years ago a retired lady here in Memphis allowed some guy to move in. He blew through her $140k on a ton of models and stuff. The local hobby shop sold off a bunch of it for her but she lost a LOT of her savings. It's sad that folks do that to older folks. The horrid nether regions has a special place for people that do things like that.

Oh, the local guy was arrested and placed in the iron bar hotel where Bubba decided to have funzies with him. HA!

Sorry about the family problems Greg, good luck on that.

How's your back doing?

I like the new logo! We'll miss the Artful Barn for sure. I do smell a road trip coming up, I actually plugged in your address on Sat to see how far out of the way, I went through Hiawassee and Clayton, needless to say...it wasn't on the way.

I like the prop but wonder if you can have more of a blur effect trailing off?

My back is improving somewhat, thank you for asking. I still can't lift much without being down a day or two. But the daily pain is way better. I still squeak like crazy, but that is just annoying and not painful.

I wonder if I could sand down the trailing edge to get the blur more convincing. I may give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion! I just thought of a redesign idea that may work better for next time.

Am I right that the propeller was spinning backwards? I redid the print but it isn't too late to turn the props the other way. Does this look right? Also, decals.

The decals were extremely thin and tore just looking at them. The edges of the ones I managed to get right will vanish easily. This is a fantasy painted and marked airplane as far as I know.

I think that is backwards, is the leading edge of the prop blade to the left or right look straight on? If it's to the right it turns clockwise, again facing the prop.

But that looks great!!
