Sorry for the absence! Lord have mercy, life is so getting in my way. Mom, moving the store, moving in with mom, my brother helping himself to 100K of her money, trying to get most of it back, etc etc etc. What a freakshow
I have worked on the pkane here and there. I got the Allied pilots kit in and did a super quick paint job on the American pilot with a Russian right arm.
I am trying out a new line of enamel paint. MCW, Model Car World, that I just got in for the store. BTW, here is my new logo:
The plane was black based then my usual squiggly line Alclad II chrome paint under-weathering. I thinned MCW matte white with their reducer about 60% paint/40% reducer and painted the tail. I taped off the tail and used MCW FS34087 Olive Drab on the top in several thin coats until I got the opacity I wanted. Underneath is the white with Model Master light blue added.
I tried to do a trick with the propeller by making the nosecone in Blender, then making a single propeller and angling it, then making an array of multiple blades and spinning them around the nosecone. I created a shape then used it to erase a section of blades to make a tri-spinning illusion, then printed it in clear resin. It is not convincing but novel enough that I am leaving it.
I have sprayed clear gloss enamel on the plane in prep for decals and am waiting for it to cure.
Anyway, now going to take mom some lunch. I hope to check in more often. See ya!
