This is the second book I have read of the 6th Infantry Division. The first by a Doctor serving in the 18 Infantry Regiment. I found it to be well written yet hard to read due to the brutal nature of the war they fought. From France to the gates of Moscow and then the slow painful retreat fighting a foe that would not lay down and give up as well as General Winter, a formidable enemy that never lost and for whom they were ill prepared to fight.
