Question for Phantom II Experts

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
How would one get to this Royal Navy Phantom in 1/48 scale? Thinking about using the Academy kit as a base. How far is a B, C/D version(s) off? It looks to me as there is some vent or something of that above the rear part of the engines?

I found some white metal landing gear, so that part should be easier to take care of.

What about decals?

There is quite a difference. New engine (Rolls Royce Spey) larger wings new nose. Or at least I'm 99% sure of that. Luckily Hasegawa makes some.

Hope that is of some help.
Oh and by no means an expert so chance of me being wrong here.

No expert either but concure with James about the Engines. Very different power plants, the burner nozzles were shorter and as you noticed there were different vents. Didn't know about the wings. Reading the Wiki there seems to be very different antenna arrangements also.

Agree with james. They are considerably different . Even the cockpits are different . Best to look for a kit.

Cheers, Christian B)

Sherm,
I agree with the group on this. The Fleet Air Arm Phantoms F-4K had lots of differences for the USAF C/D models. Fujimi made a fine F-4K kit, in the days of yore, but it was 1/72 scale.

Here's a cool link, to ease/increase your suffering!

Thanks James for the links, did not know about the wings or the nose :hmmm

I've seen the Hasegawa kits but was unsure if right of the Naval version :good: That gives me some options
