Lots of resin here, I better go buy more CA glue.

Good luck on the Dana, I have one also, but it is packed away in a box. I think there is a review in armorama. It looked to fit pretty well, but did not spend mich time play with it
Good Luck
Jim

I want a Dana so much. Such a cool looking vehicle. I think Trumpeter is coming out with one also, Look forward to seeing this build.

Lots of resin is right!

*shudder

I only wish I had the patience/skill to work with an all resin kit that big.

Thanks Jim :) ...
I was expecting to do alot of filing and sanding of the parts to get them to fit, but am surprised how little work the parts need, using a exacto knife to scrape away the very slight seam line in the parts so far .. no warpage on the frame parts.

Identifying and locating the parts has been hardest thing so far  Using the paper instructions along with the better instructions on the cd and also MMiR 32 which has some pictures to clarify a few things.

Overall the engineering and fit are exceptional. Got the beginning of the frame done so far .. working on the axles next.

James ... Hobby Boss is coming out with one very soon .. of which Tomek has supplied a link to the Armorama article .. thanks Tomek :)

Ken ... I HOPE I have the patience and skill to do this kit justice, but will do a section at a time and see how things go together :)

Pics to come shortly :)

This might be a help , I
take all the parts and buy plastic dividers boxes and number each slot and the put the part in the box it speeds up building and also familrizes you with the parts. It may take a few boxes but it is well worth it, also you will know right away if a part is missing or broken. I get mine at Harbor Freight on sale for 3.99 each. Take your time and look at the drawings close and also look at the pictures on the cd it sometimes shows that little part that you cant find.

That's a great idea Jim, will have to pick up a few of those, thanks :)

Onward:
If you can see, there is a slight seam line on the frame which cleaned up nice with a bit of scraping with xacto blade and sanding stick

This is how the smaller parts come, very thin film to clean up

If I read the directions correctly, the first thing I did was cut a bit off the back of the frame for a 90 degree angle
dana_05_1_20101003_1681955040.jpg

The frame parts ready to go together .. I also drilled an extra hole in one of the cross brace parts
dana_06_1_20101003_1625477062.jpg

Glued the frame parts together .. I also added a plasticard tab on the inside joint to strenghten it
dana_07_1_20101003_1186920238.jpg

Added the cross braces

First mistake on my part .. had to cut the plasticard strengthener so that it was not flush with the top of the frame for the turret turntable ridge
dana_11_1_20101003_1440817109.jpg

There are locating marks on the inside of the frame for turntable placement

Step 1 complete :woohoo:

Well, I've learned how runny thin CA glue can be

Thr tires turned out good, That was one of the surprises I forund when I opened my kit.I could not belevive they would split the tires. one question , the gray is that putty or primer on the drive axle?
thanks
Jim

Please disregard my early comment about the primer I see your note of Mr Surfacer . :gogo Looking good any new pictures? Tankograd has a good book for references, you may want to check it out.
