Old School Modeling

I attended the Abbeville County Historical Meeting this afternoon, Found out some of the board members are drafting me for some IT work. :facepalm

My motive was to get in there and get some pictures of this model house. No it's not a doll house, story goes that this fella got sick with some fever and you know back then you didn't call in sick 2 or 3 days with fever, he was out for several months.

In his idle time he decided to build the house that he wanted to build, and they did build it. Sadly the house did not survive as long as the model did but check this out.

How's that for some old school modeling. No PE no resin! :rotf

Very cool. Tell them if they want you to play cousin It for that little house they are out of luck.

James I didn't know what you were talking about then it dawned on me...It does have that Gothic look to it don't it. :rotf

I was thinking the same thing James. Looks like something straight out of a horror movie. :eek:hmy:

Yeah old school modeling ...... Kit-bashing ..... Scratch building ...... back in the day ... :notworthy ... Most Anyone (not Me) can blow some paint on styrene and make it look right ...... but the masters are fading fast ..... I do see a few here on this forum ....... :soldier :soldier :soldier

Very "whimsical" almost like something from a fairy tale.

I wonder how the guy who built wanted it painted? Be interesting to know what colors were used on the actual house.

Cheers!

During the Victorian days it would have been very vibrant colors. One could only speculate now but another house that was restored in my town, when they stripped away 10 layers of white paint they found this

How's that for whimsical?

Ah yes the famous Victorian house aka painted lady. There is a town here in Oregon with several of them.

Ryan I can remember that house when it was white, most every house in town was painted white and a teal green for the ceiling of the porch, no one has ever answered me on why that color but it was there.
