North African Jeep colours ( LRDG)

Where the jeeps factory spray painted or field painted ?

and if field painted would have they retained their olive drab undercoat ?

I wish to do some chipping but not really sure what would be seen underneath the stone colour

Helpings please :)

I would imagine field painted Andy. Reading about the tanks in the dessert, the schemes changed frequently. My Priest is an early one and while painted middlestone the barrel and gun are still American OD. Just my take on it.

From what I can find out everything was painted in the field. Jeeps(eh Bantums)were shipped in from the U.S. so more than likely they started out being OD. Information is kinda sketchy about paint colors. They seem to change according to the mission or the unit.
