Mercedes W196

Nickedw

Beginner
My friend started to ‘build’ an Agora Mercedes. I’ve never really looked at one of these things as I just don’t get them. They’re about £1,500 for pre-painted, diecast metal and plastic, screw together kits. So basically Lego with screws. Lots of screws. Screws for the sake of screws. Massive, overscale, Philips head screws everywhere. Did I mention screws? So screws.

I tried to keep quiet, I really did, but in the end, little by little, I started ‘helping’ him. Firstly by drawing and printing some new connectors for the fuel injection lines so he could use lead wire correctly shaped and routed instead of the springy plastic stuff in the kit. So here’s Agora’s built up model:

And here’s the real car

So, I started making a few parts

Then a few more

Anyway, I think it looks a bit better now. Not my model as I say and I arrived a bit late (theres things I would have just replaced) but I think we made a reasonable job of tarting up the top end of the engine at least. I didn’t build this, just provided a few dress up parts.
