Il-10 and Sea Fury are done, so i can start a new model :woohoo:

It's very strange, but i don't have yet any Luftwaffe aircraft in my Malta 1/48 collection, so to fix this issue i will made a model of Bf-109E7 from JG.26 which was operated over Malta in first half of 1941.

Maybe not very rapidly, but the work on the model is progressing ... I assembled the fuselage, wings got ailerons and horizontal stabilizers get rudders. I gathered all this pieces together and where it was needed there I used a putty. Flaps will be in the open position.

Because Emil will be a second model where i will be test Italeri acrylic paints i decided to use (first time) Mr.Surfacer 500 as a primer. I mix them with Thinner in a ratio 1,3 Surfacer : 3,5 Thinner. Now model is ready for paint...

I will paint "Emil" according to the scheme RLM 02/71/65. White stripe on the fuselage painted and masked, next was time for RLM 02, because in tested Italeri set RLM 02 it is not included I reached for familiar Agama paint. The advantage of this was also that i pit away stressful moment of masking (Agama generally well kept the ground).

The next step will be painted RLM 71, and at the end (easier masking) I will go with 65 RLM. I hope that darker colors will not be shine through...

Another step completed - on the Agama RLM02 I painted RLM 71 from Italeri Luftwaffe set, then I sealed the whole painted area using Agama varnish. Just as protected surface guarantee that masking will be peaceful and easy. Then Painting RLM 65 from the same set of Italeri was not a problem - the coverage was very good - without any extra action it very nicely covered RLM 02 and RLM 71.

However there are other objections - as far they relate to "green" colors (in addition to RLM 71 I painted ANA 111 from a set dedicated to USAF aircraft) - according to me and stencils at my disposal colors differ significantly from the original.

It's looking good Hubert. I think with rlm71, it's much like Olive Drab, which you are comparing it to, it's too many variables. Like with OD, it can appear as anything from a faded black to yellow tinted green.

So the Italeri paints are behaving better now with a primer? :popcorn

Looking great Hubert - rule of thumb with any acrylic paint - Always prime before you spray with acrylics, then no paint lift at all.

Cheers!
