Logistics, The Figures Updated September 25, 2014

Going to try to make it. Was thinking I wouldn't be able to, but now I'm thinking about taking the whole day off from work. Would be nice to have an extra day off.

Logistics, The Figures Updated September 25, 2014

Ok, my wife & I are going to be there. I asked for, and got permission, to take a vacation day on Friday.

Think I'll break out my MA bowling shirt, haha. Been awhile since that's been worn, haha.

Logistics, The Figures Updated September 25, 2014

Well Cindy has forbidden me from wearing it, don't know why...figure a show is one thing. She refuses to wash it for me..:rotf

Logistics, The Figures Updated September 25, 2014

Logistics, The Figures Updated September 25, 2014

Well, I have finished General Patton, his staff, (Divisional commanders, General Omar Bradley and Ike's chief of staff, General Walter Bedell (Beetle) Smith. I now have close to 180 figures finished. I had some problems with these 15 figures. Most are plastic as there aren't many resin high ranking officers out there, so the sculpting wasn't great. I did the best I could with them given the time I have allotted for them. I plan on finishing all the American G.I.s by the end of this month, and the remainder of the Germans, P,O,W,s and refugees by february! All the Americans have been built. converted and posed. Most have the flesh parts painted and at least base coat uniforms.

I'll begin with all 15 figures together.

Patton will be unsnarling a traffic jam and simultaneously saluting Abrams. A couple of staff officers standing beside Patton. The others gathered around one of the staff Jeeps looking at maps while interrogating a German colonel. Their drivers will be servicing their vehicle, having coffee and donuts served up by Red cross workers all the while being photographed by news crews and Movietone motion picture cameras. Some foreign press newsmen will be there as well!

That's so cool, Don't know how the world you were able to paint their ribbons and I think I can even see a device on one of the ribbons. :notworthy

Nice! So does Georgie have his pearl handled revolvers?

Adam. I'm ashamed of you! Don't you know the often quoted Patton saying that;

"Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a gun with pearl handles"! :yipee

They were Ivory! :yipee

Hope you can make it to Dallas, and don't forget to bring your beautiful bride with you!!!!

Thanks MP!

All that stuff is an illusion! I use a five ought Winsor Newton brush to outline the ribbons with an extremely thin line and then paint in the various colors. After the ribbons are finished, I paint a few bronze oak leaves and a silver cluster here and there. That blog wasn't the best way to present them. When they are surrounding a Jeep hood covered with maps, they will look far more natural. I noticed that several look very stiff in the photographs, but they won't when in place!

In fact, most of the figures and vehicles will look so much better when placed in the positions which compliment them, they will appear much more natural!
