Logistics, Base & Buildings. Updated May 7th, 2018

Dang........... (y)

Thanks Jeff!

Bob

Traditional " SuperDioramas " masterpiece .
This is the kind of Letterman quality and development that has inspired me for decades [ along with Lewis  ] and returned me to the modeling world so long ago .
I can look at your work for hours and it never gets old and it always pleases the eyes !!!

Glenn,

That's one of the nicest comments I've ever had! I seem to appreciate those more and more the older I get! Funny how that works!

Your Church Belfry is blowing me away! Seriously!

Thanks much!

That is quite an incredible endeavor you are undertaking with this awesome diorama. You works like these have been such an inspiration for me.

The buildings look great as do the other elements like the vehicles, train, and figures.

Cheers,
James

Thanks James, I appreciate that!

It has been one hell of a job! I feel lucky that I've been able to stick with it all these years. It has, at times, been tempting to forget about it and move on to something else, but I'm glad I didn't!

You're welcome, Bob.

I couldn't imagine working on a project for 15 years. It takes a lot of discipline to continue on with a project that long even though at times it must be hard to get motivated to work on it. The longest I ever worked on a diorama was a bit over a year on the "Breakfast in the Boonies" diorama and I was very happy to finally get that one done, so I can imagine how good it will feel for you to get this one done after 15 years of of-and-on work on it.

Cheers,
James

Prior to this one, I worked on the Winds of War for almost 5 years. Next to that one, I spent a year on the first Legacies and six months on the rebuild of it. All the others were less than a year and some as quick as a month or two. Sometimes, it seems like I've been on this one my whole life. I have never felt like I was anywhere close to finishing it until I took those last photos. I'm really not sure how it is going to feel when it is done?

Ian.

I started this one in 2003. There were periods of even more than a year that I never touched it. I had the base and buildings built as you see them now in 2005. Then through the hell of a corporate divorce that dragged out for years. It has been in three locations since it's inception. I've finished many dioramas in my life, some having the feeling of emptiness after they were complete. I think you may know what I'm talking about. I won't know what to do with myself when this one is done. I think it'll be like losing a very old friend! Of course I can go down and see it every day, but it's not the same. After I finish them, somehow they don't seem like I built them anymore. It's hard to explain?

Thanks Ian!

Cheyenne said it best! What a thrill this is to look at over and over.

Thanks Mark,

One thing they can say about me and you! We can crank out the models! :yipee

Bob

I am thrilled and honored to be considered with you in that regard. Thanks!

I am also looking forward to seeing this. It is still on my Bucket List to come see you, this diorama and this museum in person.

Fantastic work

I am finally closing in on this thing I have been working on so long I can't remember when I wasn't. I placed the currently finished vehicles in approximately where they will be and discovered that, although I want it to be extremely busy, it is a bit too busy, so I am cutting back on a couple of trucks and trailers. I will also have to do some rearranging of the staff and staff cars. It's simply too crowded where they are clustered around the statue. You have to remember that the 435 figures will have to fit in this as well.

My original idea was to create a huge traffic jam in all directions with a tank column, a cargo truck column, hoards of refugees and their possessions in carts and carried by hand to the rear, and so on. I usually do this as I prefer to have too many vehicles than too few when i begin wrapping up.

Here are some photos with the vehicles placed in positions where they will likely go. As I said though, I'll be changing some things.

Thanks Abdin,

It may look close to being finished, but....... I still have a half dozen vehicles to finish, including the Rail gun, about 180 of the 435 figures as well as finishing off the buildings.. It won't look as crowded after I permanently attach all the vehicles. It will be the figures that fill it up, but, at least in my plans, they will add a lot of drama.

Thanks for looking in.

Coming together!

Well Terry,

If anybody knows that, it's you!

Frankly, I wish it was nearer completion than it is, but, as somebody once said, I don't have any elves to give me a hand!

Bob, I've watched this build over the years, I have one that's shelved right now a river scene with a new commander arriving on the eastern front. Well I found out my troubles yesterday too much AB pressure. So maybe I'll kick the dust off and get too it.

This is a remarkable build … I'll be up to see it soon, I was thinking a couple of more tanks in that column might help, just thing or you could add those trucks & trailer there. I know you've got this, looking outstanding !!!

Thanks,

Actually, there are four more Shermans to weather, detail and add figures. I still have to weather and detail the K-5 Rail gun, and there are 3 more deuce and a halfs to detail and weather, then, all the vehicles are done.

The placement of all the vehicles above isn't exactly how they will be in the final diorama, and, it won't look right until the 435 figures are added. Then it will live up to it's name, Logistics.

Give me some advance notice when you are coming! We will be traveling a bit and I wouldn't want you to drive all the way here to find us not at hime!

Thanks again,

Bob
