Leopard 2 Turret = Shot Trap?

As I was working on my Tamiya 1/35 scale Challenger 1 Mk3 Desert Storm 1 model turret I looked at the turrets in my M1A1 Abrams and Leopard 2A6M CDN kits. To me it looks like the front lower section of that Leopard 2 turret is a terrible shot trap as any round hitting the underside of the front of that turret would get deflected down onto the top of the hull. Anyone else think that this is a legitimate concern for a main battle tank like this?

It might....but who am I to question the German engineers?

I did a lot more research on that possible turret shot trap and found out it is not. #1 is because it's add on armour designed to deflect the dart portion of a sabot round. #2. is because that armour is in front of the main frontal turret armour.

I guess I was guilty in still thinking in terms of WW2 ammo which would be more likely to penetrae the roof of the hull although that roof is armoured.
