Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

My last piece arrived for my AV-8B Plus. Markings for VMA-231. It comes with 8 or 10 schemes and 2 brass AOA probes. I just have to make sure this marking is for a Plus model. It look like it to me. Will check S/N. And then a Harrier is in my immediate future :yipee

I'm thinking Saul might like this one.

Should buy a lottery ticket.
Got this on sale because it had no instructions. A guy at the club had built this and gave me the box with all the paperwork and extra parts.

This one sent to me by a friend in Australia. Tamiya 1/350 Missouri. The box was pretty banged up, but the contents are still in perfect shape. Postage was 54.00 (I think Australian) About $41.00 US. I owe him big time. Gotta see what aftermarket stuff is available for it.

Wow, excellent score man! There's at least $700.00 worth of aftermarket goodies for that Missouri. Looking forward to seeing some of these started.

Never seen one of those Gallow kits build, I suspect it's in good hands EJ :popcorn

Man, that takes me back! The kit reminds me of the old Monogram "Speedee-Bilt" kits of the 1940s and 50s. Before then there were only all-balsa kits. Those half [plastic-half balsa kits were the greatest thing since sliced bread!~ I remember building all the Monogram kits, especially the B-25 Mitchell. I remember in comparison, the Speedee-Bilt kits were, at least to a kid, extremely expensive, (probably $2 instead of 50 cents).

I hope we get to watch that one being built!

Got a few things in the Q, plus I've been on a building slump. Maybe this stuff will get me going again!
A 1/525 fleet oiler, being converted to a T2-A Mattaponi for a friend that served on her in the 60's.

A 1/12 wood "Lightning" sailboat that is supposedly a commission build. Got it about 1/2 done but have not gotten any cash at all yet. I just want to get this thing off my bench. Maybe I'll "inherit" it in leiu of payment. The kit was about $55.00 ( he bought it) and the build fee was to be $375.00 as it had to be waterlined and lots of custom work on the rigging. I've got maybe 50 hours in it plus some purchased materials.

Once these are off the bench, I'm gonna do the DC-3. I flew out of Grand Rapids when I joined the Navy on one of these. It was North Central airlines, hope to find some pics to get some idea of color scheme and markings.

In the meantime, Start collecting aftermarket for the Missouri build. Keeping that #4 in the que to hopefully encourage me to keep building.

My propellers and exhausts finally arrived. WOW they are nice. Proper Plane from the Ukraine makes hand carved propellers for your WWI a/c. I picked up a Fokker DV.II with exhaust, Albatros D.V/Va prop with exhaust, Camel prop and an Axial prop for a 160HP Mercedes engine. The exhausts are by Rexx and are grown metal. They all come with a resin prop boss and are very well packed. Will do a review shortly so thats 2 I owe you.

They are grown by a galvanic method to the shape etc. Hollow all the way through and just like the real thing. They are like Moskit exhausts.
I have some I bought a few years ago and now these with the props.

I loved Heaven's Eagle's tip to keep the industrial glues from evaporating, so I got the syringes!
eBaySyringeNeedles.JPG

"The other thing is I buy a 1 pint can at a local acrylic plastics dealer for $12. My last can cost $10 and lasted about 10 years. Made a small hole in the metal seal top and used a long needle glass syringe to pull it out and put it in an old Ambroid bottle. Then kept it "tightly" capped."

When the worst part of a book is the modeling section and it is done by Tony Greenland and Vinnie Brannigan, you KNOW this is a great book!

Saul if the syringe isn't an old ground glass type, it could do all kinds of stuff when the solvent hits it. The other thing is the solvent will tend to want to drip out the needle as it warms from handling the syringe. Be quick with transferring it to another container like an Ambroid ProWeld container.

There were a few items that were picked up at Wonderfest and a book showed up last week.

Seems like a couple of years ago the Arizona book was either not found or over a C note. This one was $30 and there was another for a touch less and one for $50. I guess the run went away and patience paid off.

I also got stuff for my Technical and was disappointed to find the rocket launcher by Meng is only 4 tubes not 6 or 9 as I thought. Will just have to do I guess.
Went nuts and ordered the new Bronco DFS-20 so when it arrives I'll show you whats in the box.

Those motors are beauts eh? I got one for the EindeckerIV that's on my to do list.

They are. I have at least 1 od every engine they did. These two are pushing the limit though. They are so detailed that Lukasz had an incredible failure rate and so only 50 of each are being made. He even gives a jig for making the springs.
