Well just got a new book in the mail and while it is neat I'm really disappointed.

I was hoping to see some colour schemes I could use and see what flew here. While I am sure it is quite interesting it should have been named Curtiss Jenny's in Canada because thats all there is. Sure the airfield pictures and history are nice but its not what I thought it was. We must have trained on more than just Jenny's. Oh well.

OH? and what else would you need to learn, other than what a Jenny could teach you??? :rotf :yipee

Kidding just Kidding... I'll go back to my corner now and take a nap

That book on Soviet AWACS is cool. Now if only someone made models of these aircraft in 1/72 scale injection plastic. Nice score Saul!

John, sorry to hear that the book was disappointing. I can't be sure, but I believe that during WWI, the Curtis Jenny was the main training aircraft for all new pilots just entering service. I don't believe they crossed trained into their respective aircraft until they got to the forward deployment area. I just remember reading that somewhere because the Jenny was the most forgiving of aircraft for trainees.

I believe that the PT-17 was the primary training for the USAAF and the USN. know my two cousins that flew for the USAAF (B-24's) training in them.

I imagine it would've caused quite a stir Barney-- these guys are talking training during WWI ;)

There were a number of aircraft used as trainers during WWI and from my reading the pilots might get a bit of airtime in a second line fighter or recce or bomber before going over. I thought the book would have more than just Jenny's. Also I'm not aware of a 1/32 Jenny to build at the moment.

More show haul. From this weekend's IPMS Seattle Spring Show. Everything was $20 (or less) with the exception of the F3H Demon, but I got him to throw the Navy Deck Crew in for free on that one.

Shocker find was the B-47 ($14). I'm excited to find an "excuse" to build the Demon. That one looks like once cool little kit (a fair bit of resin bits & PE included).

I even slipped outside of my jet norm and snagged the Hasa Mosquito. Always did like the shape of that bird.

nice group of kits Helios. Less than $20. is always a nice number-especially if explaining to "a family CFO" how value conscious you were :rotf

Not a model but just as neat in my opinion.
All of thises things were a birthday present to me from me. :D I can do that.
The compressor was needed to be just a bit quieter so this one fills the bill. The two converters are a wide angle and the other is actually a 2.5X doubler and both of those came with the flash I bought. I needed a cheap one and the other stuff cane as a kit.

The Tamron lens is 18 -200 mm and man it really does what I needed it for. and I still have a few things still out there waiting to be delivered.

I would argue those bits are cooler than about any kit.

And you'll get more use out of them. :good:

Good hauls there folks!
I have been a good boy now for almost 2 months and been working on paying off the credit bills. My Capitol one bill should hit 0 in a couple of weeks and the one for the new 'puter 1 or 2 months after that. As I have most everything I really want at the moment, it is time to get ahead for the first time in a long while.

Technically, they were Canadian Aeroplanes Ltd JN-4 Canucks, a "Canadianized" JN-3 and were the primary trainer for the RFC/RAF in Canada. Once the pilots got their wings, they did the rest of their flight training once they got across the pond.

The Canuck had different wings, stabilizers and rudder and the airframe was considerably lighter than the US built Jenny. The USAAC received several Canucks but they considered them to be unsuitable for training duties due to the lighter airframe.

Plans were underway to replace the Canuck with the Avro 540K but the war ended before they entered service. They were used in the inter-war period.

Cheers,
Rich

Had to go down to the city yesterday and managed to hit a hobby shop. Got some new tools and a bunch of paints and a few kits. Got home and there were some parcels waiting. So here are the kits and AM that found its way into my home.
