OK, so now with the story from my Friendly Local Hobby Shop. The shop is fine in great shape, no problemo there.
The story is about a local widow that a particular scuzz bag of a modeller had gotten his hooks into. Over about the last year and a half this guy managed to drain her savings to invest in stuff to "start" a hobby business. He also lived off of her and bought a ton of crap and drained her savings to zippo. She came to the Hobby shop owner looking for help as she literally had no money for food. While the owner is a true business man he also does his best to do the right thing. He is selling this collection on Ebay and also decided to see if the locals would be interested in these kits. He sent out an email thursday to his better customers letting them know the situation. I went by there today and was able to go look at the stash.
What a STASH!
I was almost immediately sidetracked by the following kits and can't really say what else was there. I know I could probably have packed a number more away, but these busted my limit. As he said he is just trying to cover his expenses on this, get as much as he reasonably can for the lady and still give a little bit of a deal for those buying so that everyone wins to some extent. I guess I did my fair share today.
Here is what I was able to pick up. And yeah it wasn't cheap but I was going to buy these eventually anyway.
As I ran across an extra instruction sheet in the Horton, I am going to run it back over tomarrow afternoon just in case it goes with the other Horton kit. I will also take another looksee. If you want me to look for something in partticular let me know. I know there was a ton of AM stuff including Friul tracks PE and who the heck knows what. Pricing is just under retail or just under ebay or other retailer pricing as this is more for the old widow lady than anything else. Makes me appreciate the hobby shop owner even more.
And folks if you are ever in Memphis it is right off of I-40 and well worth the stop.
