Figured I'd share w/ you guys a kit I just got done designing for a client.
The subject is a WWI German Type R Zeppelin, specifically L33, which was lost in an attack on England in 1918.
I modeled it using Solidworks and line drawings provided by the customer. It took approximately 6 months to complete, which unfortunately is a lot longer than it should have, but it proved to be substantially more difficult than I expected.
Here's an overall shot of the whole thing.
This is the main control gondola where the captain ran the show.
There were two mid-ship engine gondola's, one located on each side.
And then this is the rear gondola. Besides containing 3 engines, I I think it also had a backup control system in it, in case something happened to the control gondola at hte bow.
And then a bow on view that I just thought looked cool.
The kit will be in 1/700 scale, and will be all resin & photoetch. No clue on details as far as price or production date. I'm still waiting on final approval from the client and for him to let me know a couple last details so I can wrap up the project.
I've already got a couple other projects for the same client lined up, including a modern container ship & a WWII Soviet destroyer.
