Page 2!

More "flying thingies". Jerrod Boothe's RAAF B-737 conversion was really cool! This is the first Junkers JU-290 I've seen built. It looks like the nose doesn't fit well, but there were obvious flaws in the was the kit wings fit.
Feldmarshall Rommel and his 1/35 scale men was really well done. Everything is in this diorama except the sweat!

Some figures and Sci-Fi. The cool 1/350 Kriegsfischkutter and Monster is here too!

1/350 HMS Hood and WMEC-618. Richard Sliwka's excellent DE model. Don Joy's 1/700 USS Wright CVL-29, a 3D printed model (I think?)

You don't see a Sov. Navy Musashi missile battleship in drydock very often. The idea was thought-provoking, even with glaring flaws in the construction of the ship and cranes. Still, a really cool concept!

Good ol' Chris Seare and the affable Tom Potts commence the awards ceremony. We all find a spot and prepare to "harrumph" and applaud. Total contest numbers were 73 Model Miscreants entered 295 models! A very good local show turnout, indeed!
How did I fare at the hands of the West Central Missouri judges?

Pretty well! 3 wards out of 8 entries! 1/700 US Brig Niagara, 1/350 WMEC-618 CGC Active, and a surprise, the 1/48 Sand Land Royal Army Tank placed! I was a little crestfallen that the 1/72 P-67B Moonbat didn't place. A finished Anigrand resin kit is not commonplace, so the difficulty of the kit assembly is kinda unknown. In the old days, kit difficulty figured into a judges score.
Teresa's Raffle Mojo held steady and she won a few raffle prizes.

There was only one started "Raffle Turd" in the bunch. The Hasegawa 1/72 G8N1 Rita kit. Raffle prize quality at the IPMS West Central Missouri show is MUCH superior to the other KC contest.
2 Matchbox 1/72 Stranraer kits!? Saints preserve us! See anything you like? Sing out, before I get them listed on tlarmodels.com
You remember what happened to a previous "Raffle Turd", right? Hmm........

At the end of the show, I succumbed. I offered Mary Barrow a Fin for the resin Bainbridge kit. She accepted.
Those Iron Shipwrights guys know their business! This is a beautiful casting! I Found the kit instructions without much fuss.
Scalemates to the rescue again!
We shared quite the raucous lunch with the Booths at Red Robin. Jerrod and Donya Booth are hilarious good fun and it was Donya's Birthday to boot! Jerrod grew up in Fremantle. We did some old Monty Python, farted around, sang a most horrible Habby Burseday and joked about almost everything. It was a pleasure to get to know these model friends better. We managed to eat a damn fine lunch along the way! Thanks for inviting us!

Tradition holds that on the return leg from Liberty, if you see an Amish wagon you MUST stop to buy baked goods! A dapper Grampa sold us a Blackberry cobbler, rhubarb bread and 2 "Fry Pies", One apple and one peach. The fry pies were incredible! I had the peach one for breakfast today.
We looked for cheaper gas and smokie treats on the RTB trip too. Missouri taxes make the price of smokes about a dollar a carton less than here at home. Gas was a little cheaper, so good deal!
Thanks to IPMS West Central Missouri for putting on a well run, fun contest! It was a pleasure to visit this show after a 5 year hiatus.
"Thanks for having us over! We had SUCH a fine time!"
