Hello to one and all!

Hi my name is Phil Appleyard (some of you may know me already! :( ) I am 43, married with six children, a freelance Illustrator and Designer, with a little spare time to model Tigers (mainly), I have a major long term project underway of the 2./s.SS.Pz.Abt.101 in Normandy, and a 'few' anomaly Tiger projects on the 'long finger'. Looking forwards to participating on these hallowed pages.

Cheers Phil.

Hi Phil,

Welcome to TnT.

Please post some images of the excellent looking tiger as well as anything else you may
be working on .

Great effort .

Michael

Hi Phil

Welcome to TnT. The blog looks good mate, Nice photos.

Where abouts in North West England are you from? on the global scale were are almost neighbours

Ant

Well! A very kind and warm welcome! :D

Hi Mike, Thanks for the warm welcome. I will be posting some images of the Tigers later on. Rumour has it I might even have some 'green' things on the way!

Hello Jenny! Thank you for the hospitality, and another place to give the Tigers a bit of floor space. I am glad that you like Tigers... Sometimes I think I even begin to bore Mr Byrden with them!

Hi Ant! ... Like you I am from Cheshire (Stockport), but escaped past the checkpoint at McVities on the A6, and currently reside on the Oldham border... So when I need all the trees and foliage for the N175, I will be able to bring a van down south and stock up! (y)

Hello Moon Puppy! I found it rooting through e-bay for AM and photo's. I can send it to you in a larger format if you want one that bad! ;) I have been threatening my darling wife with a photoshop job on the hair to make it a redhead! Not that impressed I can tell you.

I will have a dig in the image folders and get some shots sorted...

Thanks again for the great welcome. Cheers Phil.

Up the Road! - I have family in Stockport and Rochdale, so I guess we have you surrounded

Glad you made it.

Hi Phil:

Welcome to T&T. It is a great place if you like the occasional Tiger or two ;) . But I must say I am a bit surprised that you don't have a Panther somewhere with the screen name you picked  . But with the Tigers I saw on your site, you will do just fine.

Hi Phil,

Welcome at T&T, glad you joined us!! Looking forward to see some of your work!

Greetings from Holland

Erik

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the jungle... Your Tigers will fit right in...
I checked out your link and like what I see. :blink
Although I like Soviet Armor, maybe we can have a play date with
the models... Like in real life I will have to bring 10 or 20
for every Tiger you bring along, just to make it a fair fight. :pinch:
Now we need to see some of them here on TnT.
Good to have you aboard, jump right into one of the group builds
and have some fun here.
Shawn

Hello again everybody!

Well Ant, you have got me pinned down, with a classic 'pincer' movement, trapped against the Pennines! :pinch:

Hi Gary! I do have a couple of Panthers, and KT's in the stash (424 and 401 seem like the logical choices for the Panthers eh? ;) )But my mountain of unbuilt late Tigers has the highground at the moment. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hello Erik! Thank you for allowing a jungle for the 'Ambush' of Tigers to lurk!

Whoa Shawn! Now that would be something! 100+ of the 'Steel Soviet Sledgehammer' crossing the European plains and heading for Normandy!!! :blink Great to be here, and I will be watching for a group build slot to fit a Tiger... Or two!

Right then, here is what is exiting the workbench, and waiting for the N175 base.

I will get some more together when I get back from a 'field' project! :S

Thanks again for the excellent reception... Cheers Phil.

Welcome to an awesome site. Those Tigers look excellent. Looking forward to more of your work.
James

Welcome,

Your theme is clear cut! :D

Excellent work, I love seeing nude models. While many modelers show the artistic finishing side, I love to linger on the craftsman (construction) side to see what others have done to get the results they post.

Regards,

Hi Phil.

I gotta go with Saul on this, cause I also like seeing nude models :eek:hmy: . I also like seeing plastic kits that aren't painted yet  . And your Tigers are very nice. Both finished, and near finished.

Gary B)

6 kids!!! You're a brave man!! I have two and I go berserk!....... well actually my wife does! I just play with the kids!

Love your work! Beautiful Tigers you've got there!

Regards
Noel

Hi Phil
Welcome on board...
They are some mighty fine build you have there. I like the fact you mentioned green in your future though...
I look forward to some of my 1st Army encountering you in a Normandy setting ;)
Brad

Hello again! ...And sorry for not getting back sooner!

Thank you again for the 'armchair and cuppa' welcome! :)

Hi Dioramix! Hopefully I will be able to bring a few more Tigers to the party soon, glad you like them... And the avatar, well that is causing a 'stir' eh?

Hello James! I must say I do find this a great, open, informative, and friendly site. A few names around I know also! ;) Certainly a lot of awesome modellers on board! I still have a lot to learn, and this looks like the place to take notes. I do have some more Big cats on the go, just that they are on a 'slow' boil.

Hola' Saul! Lofty praise indeed, thank you very much! I must admit, that I also am fond of 'Nude' models... But it is just 1/35 these days, art college is a long way in the past! I will try and get some more images of the stragglers and stray cats, before the paint jobs. It is true that you always learn more about (armour) anatomy without the outer layers!!! ;)

Hi Gary! It is not just finished, and nearly finished... I also have about six midway through, and err fourteen not started fully  !

Hey Shawn, thanks for the compliment! I was told by a modeller a while back that the collective noun for Tigers is either a 'Prowl' or an 'Ambush'... Cool eh? Some of the things I have learned putting these kitties together is amazing. And sharing the knowledge is even better. :)

Hello Noel! You call me brave... Most people say mad! My wife has blamed it on my Irish/Sicilian ancestry on me/mio Fathers side! It must be in the jeans... I meant GENES!!! :S My wife is a teacher so she leads the way and I just warp them apparently! Though with them being a really close knit unit, I do feel a bit left out sometimes... Especially when the Lego boxes come out and no one wants to make 'Tanks'!
Thank you for your kind words on the Tigers, hopefully I should be ready with some more images of the others soon.

Hi Brad! That would be awesome eh? A large scale Dio/wargame in 1/35 set in Normandy! Same result though in miniature I expect... A lot of scrap metal on both sides, and a similar result territorially! Though crossing The Seine should be easier!!! I think that my calculations for a couple of boards for some large scale dioramas ended up at 4sq metres for a six Tiger bivouac off the N175 outside of Villers bocage, so I am going to make up a largish road section with the 'Tilly Junction' first!

This is all I have managed to get going this week! With all the good weather, I have actually had to get back on a few outdoor sites... I think i prefer snow! More time for modelling!

At some point in the future, it going to hopefully resemble this Tiger...
