Thank you all.
My thoughts are german gray lightly misted over the black. If that don't work, it will stay very black.

Bob, I was going for black. Most of the non-attack birds are the new helo green, (dark,dark green, almost black).
I may have to use german gray with a drop or two of black to get the worn, faded look
