Found a bit of WWII history on our property.

A fun find in our woods. A US Army Airborne 1/2 ton dump trailer from 1944 that I discovered some time ago while wandering around the property. This is as far as the mower would drag it out of the the trees. Now that I have the 8n I can get it up to the garage. My wife thinks it must be worth a million dollars so she wants me to sell it 🤣 I think it would make a great trailer to "restore" and use with the tractor. It's been converted to a ball hitch.

Sorry but this has to be done.

That is without a doubt a great find! So now the question is, is it worth more as is or restored?

I like the idea of restoring it to use. You'd be the coolest guy at the local dump rolling up with a USA 45 Airborne trailer haulin' your yard debris.

Wait..Airborne, North Goergia...gotta wonder if it didn't come out of surplus from Camp Toccoa

Idk. Here's one that sold. But others are like $175.
Jeff is to funny. When I first moved out here my wife said there's an old car here. I had walked by it several times but didn't see it. It was literally buried in briars 🤣

That's cool! Who would imagine Para's needed a dump trailer?
There where Airborne Engineering Battalions in the Airborne Divisions. Some elements jumped in with the infantry for immediate support clearing obstacles, minefield, etc. Gliders would bring in heavy equipment to build or repair roads and bridges, breaching defenses, and generally doing Combat Engineering stuff.

Tell us more about the car. It looks 1940 vintage. Gary S.
It's a '39 Deluxe. It was my wife's Dad's. Her parents dated in it back in the day. It's a complete car. Has 1954 Tennessee plates on it. It was parked in a chicken house that collapsed on it. The chicken house was removed years ago but the car has remained in the spot since '54.
