Well we are up to 4000 hectares burnt now. Also lost 1 fire bomber and pilot, may he rest in peace. Its only 40km away which isnt much. Wind has changed so not so much smoke over us today. Hope they get it contained soon.

Sending you some :zen James. I remember my mom had a forest fire get within about a mile of her house. That was the craziest thing I ever saw. At the time I'd never seen a fire tornado. That fire was actually shooting out whole charred branches and pine cones into her yard.

Egads James!! :eek:hmy: Hopefully they get it contained soon! I know what it's like being close to a forest fire!!
RIP to the air crew.
Sending :zen :zen :zen :zen your way...

Disturbing news, spreading in two directions at once is no good indeed.
As a kid I watched a forrest fire not so far away from me,the feeling got over me that it is fascinating to see..but frightening as hell the same way.

Yep. Well said!! When I lived in Ventura county, Calif late 70s -mid 80s we had several good sized fires... Helluva feeling... :frantic

Fairly clear out with just a slight haze. http://srd.web.alberta.ca/lac-la-biche-area-update.

Big fires are downright scary- we get 'em every year in SoCal. Once it rained ash from an orange sky for days when the forest around Big Baer mountain were going up. Best of luck to all those fighting that blaze!

Seen that myself.... :frantic

Winds at 30 kph, gusting to 40 kph and we have disappeared in a wall of smoke from our fire that now covers 8800 hectares (34 sq mi). Its like being the lucky person to be on the downwind side of a bonfire.

Cheers,
Rich

Yeah really smelling it in our building so went outside to see and its a wall of smoke. Not good.

Duck & cover, Brother! It's rained Everyday here for a week! Too bad the old JRM-1's are retired. The ol' Mars' would make short work of your big fire. I pray the P-Boats work overtime to save all lives possible! :frantic
