Well-known member
Just saw on the news that there is massive flooding due to heavy rain in parts of germany and other parts of europe, here in belgium it's ok.
I hope all other europe members are ok!

Seems to be around Bavaria in Germany. Long way from You. Don't know we have anyone in that area. Still in thoughts and prayers though.

Laura and Martin but I don't know if they are in the flooding areas. Be safe y'all!

everything dry down here in my place - my brother who lives in traunstein far in the south of bavaria was isolated due to flooded autobahn and rails but everything's back to normal by now. deggendorf, passau, dresden and other cities at the donau and elbe are still flooded or close to being flooded. same in saxonia and thuringia and the tidal wave is now working it's way to northern germany - magdeburg and hamburg are awaiting the flood.

but even if the tidal wave is wandering north and the water's going back to normal level, the main problem is the dams who are weakened by the high pressure, any of the dams can break any time and give some flooded areas the coup de grace.

I remember sandbagging on the Red River of the North one year in North Dakota, one of the hardest days work I ever did.

Keep safe y'all! :zen

Glad you're safe LAura. Hope all is well with your brother.
Thoughts and prayers to all affected.

Hope all of you there stay healthy during this- don't forget that a flood isn't just water, garbage, sewage rotten fluids are present in the moving waters. Stay away from it all if possible. God Bless. CR

There's an art & photography site I visit regularly, and there's a photography in Austria who posts some amazing pictures on a regular basis. He posted some shots this week of Salzburg, which the Salzach river runs through, and it was very close to overflowing its banks. He posted a shot a couple months ago of the same area w/ the river at its normal level, and the difference was just amazing.
