And now it's time for another small update.

As I was assembling the fuselage I found these two small plates that are supposed to represent the exhaust stacks under the cowl.

Surely , you're kidding me So after a search, I discovered that no one produces any after market pieces for this bird.

Anyhow, after some sanding and cutting, etc we had some oval exhaust pipes.

and had them glued underneath the cowl .

No one will probably ever notice these again but you'll have to admit they look more believable than the kit parts.

Now, I can finish the fuselage assembly.

I would notice and be duly impressed at the effort. I think I bought this kit to use in kit bashing an La-5 (and now I don't recall the maker of the La-5... Zvezda? I need to check my stash).

Your work makes this kit more detailed than the Hobbycrap (Hobbycraft) one I built a while ago.

I think ZveZda and also AML produced the early LA-5 . I have not heard any nice comments about AML kits but I have never built any of their products.

Do you have any details on the leading edge slats for these aircraft ?

While waiting for the Russian ( Akah ) paints to arrive from Linden Hill Imports this airframe was primed and drying for a few days.

Congratulation to these guys from NY for getting me the paints in three days
This is only my second transaction with them but they're on top of things.

Guess now I'll have to shoot some paint on it :yipee

I really liked it the first time I used it James .
It is a bit translucent but it goes down very well . My only dislike is that these guys appear to be the only dealers this side of the big pond.
This is the only paint that the VVS guys claim to be accurate for soviet aircraft.

He's talking about Linden Hill Imports...I used the paint for my IL-2 last year and liked them a lot...White Ensign paints has come close in a few cases I have used their Soviet paint as well...

Well James, you're in luck ( sorta ). I shot the second gray shade earlier but I'm not totally happy whit the shapes so there will be some revisions.

Those Akan paints are nice, aren't they? The Cyrillic AKAH is AKAN for us and named after the owner, Aleksandr Akanikhin.

Great job Chris! :coolio Yup Saul is right Akan paints, I bought a few aprox 15b. But I didn't tryed them yet You did a neat job Chris so I can assume that they are better than vallejo for freehand...

I like the paints very much. They go on as smooth as a brand new baby's backside .

I have read quite a bit on the VVS forum about these paints but I fin the name confusing.

They are referred to as Akan paints however the bottle reads Akah .

Anyhow, I find them a bit dark but it is easier to lighten the tone then to darken it.

I also find Lindenhill's service very good.

I wish I could say this more often about products or service.

Ok, I'm back from being sick. I have however been tinkering with the builds.

I have altered the dark shapes on the Lagg to follow the diagram more closely . I really like the Russian flowing shapes.

I have also added some metal panels and the tail marking .

It will soon be time to break out the red and the blue
