While I had everything out for my other spit build, I decided to build the 2 blade spit. The finish was dry brushed NMF and gunze paint for the camo, followed by a flat coat.

I thought i knew most variations of Camo but NMF underside on a Mk1 spit is odd. Usually if they used NMF it was on doped canvas like the biplanes and Hurricanes ?

The 19 Squadron airplanes were painted that way according to Aircraft Camouflage and Markings No. 1 on the Spitfire, Paddy. They started getting Spitfires in August 1938, and the black/white underside was not official until April 1939, according to the same publication.
