DML 1/35 Flakpanzer IV Kugelblitz

FINALLY! Someone doing armor without all the tools and stuff on it.

I like it Adam, looking good.

:popcorn

Well, it'll have all the tools and stuff on it eventually, I just dont have 'em on yet b/c its a whole lot easier to paint it w/o them, haha. But its only a few tools.

Yea, there is a 3rd color that will go in it, a dark green. And then it has kinda angular polka dots all over it in the 3 different colors, that will go on once the 3rd color is on it.

ADAM,

DY-NO-MITE !! I love it ! That went down like a Dress on Prom night !! Great Save !!

Is that Vallejo's Model Air Tank Brown ? I'm gettin ready to shoot My Wittmann's Tiger's Camo & have that color plus the Model Air Cam. Dark Green &I have Their Olive Grun ( not sure which Green to use - suggestions ?) . I too was gonna mask Mine th same way , but I wanna try using Blu-Tack .

Great Start !!! :ro:

The Germans called their tank-camo-green official;Olivegrün.
and their tank-camo-brown;Schokoladebraun...translated;choclatebrown

Olives&choclate....strange combination... :hmmm ...

That's always been my thinking, just wait, you'll see soon enough. :D

The paints are all Humbrol. The base coat is H84 Middle Stone, the Red/Brown is H160 Red Brown, and the last color is H159 Khaki Green.

It's looking great, Adam! Looks like you decided to mask between the SP after all, helps with the over spray! Sorry I'll miss the meeting tonight, but at least next time I'll get to see it all painted! (y)

Loking really good, Adam

The vehicle I mean and not you , you understand

Cant wait til the next paint application (y)

Very cool. Like how its coming out. I tried this once and must have done it wrong because I never got those nice sharp edges.

Yup, made a lot of sense to do it that way. That way I wasnt using a ton of extra silly putty. Getting the tape to stick to it though, was interesting, to say the least. I basically had to make sure there was enough open surface area for the tape to stick directly to the model, and then I had to do my best to get the tape to stick to the SP. Sometimes it would, but most of the time it didnt, but I made it work as best as I could.

Thanks for the replies guys. Getting ready to start masking the lower portion of the tank, and I'll get that painted this morning. Then into the dehydrator for 5 or 6 hours, and hopefully it will be dry enough to start working on the 3rd color this afternoon/evening.

Finally some progress.

Got the last color put down for the camo on it. Had some issues w/ it, but at this point, I'm too far into it to backtrack, so I'll live w/ it, and hope that what ever Im able to put down for weathering will help even out the colors.

Masked off

Going to let the paint dry for at least a day, and then I'll go in and get a couple good coats of Future on it, and then the weathering process will begin.

I have a few idea's on how I'd like this to end up, but I'm still thinking. I've been wanting to put this on a base when completed, and was trying to decide if I wanted to put groundwork on it or not. I was talking w/ Iron Mike about what I want, and I think I've decided that I'm going to put it on a base w/ groundwork.

Probably make it look like late winter or early Spring 1945. All the info I've found on the Kugelblitz is that if it saw any service, it was only during the Battle of Berlin, which according to info Mike gave me, was late winter into spring of 1945. So what I'm thinking is to have tank mounted on the base, w/ snow & mud ground cover, and then I have a couple Verlinden winter infantrymen that I think would look good w/ it.
