Der Rote Kampfflieger

It'll be a shame to cover all this up in red but that's the course we're on. I mean if I put this in a show and say it's the Red Baron's aircraft they'd throw me out leading the way with pinlights.

That's pretty swell, you know you're going to have to do one you can leave like that. :D :mpup

Think I'm ready to paint some rote. I feel like I should seal what I got, would I do flat or gloss. What ya'll think?

I would suggest something a little flatter on the fabric surfaces but not dead flat, and semi-gloss on the wood to simulate varnish.

Looks like it's going to be a good day to paint. Major storms coming through, they even changed the start time for last round of the Masters this year.

I dunno, there are many in the know... But red is good too...

What do the instructions say Bob? As far as flat vs gloss, I find that flat paint is much easier to spray. Gloss or semi gloss can be added later.

Also, if the original was sprayed, it would have been the same paint overall and the texture or finish would have been mostly the same overall. The fabric surfaces were always doped and pretty much smooth and water resistant.

Just thinkin'

I'm thinking about the top coat for the red. Since it's going to be thin I think I need flat over everything to keep those pesky runs from happening.

Yeah and someone shot'em.... :pilot :snoopy

Let's see how this cures out.

Really thinking about getting the Roden Dr1 because pretty cool decals come with this kit, it's a scheme where it's half painted. and you still see the OD streak job Fokker did.
