Dental files

When I had a root canal done the dentist showed me the dental files he was using. Unfortunately I wasn't in any shape to ask if he had spares after. Then I saw a thread where Saul had some. Where does this lead? Well I looked on ebay as a lark using Dental files as the search. There are pages of them. I got 3 6 packs for 99 cents each. There are more options. Why should you care? They are excellent files for very tiny areas and are numbered the same as drill bits. So if you have a tiny area to sand or file down these are excellent. BTW dental tools also came up and there where some cool ones modelers could use.

And I did it the hard way..root canal was done last Monday...My dentist is saving up the diamond burrs for me also.

WoW !! Thanx for th 411 ! That small . DO you know if they are gauged in mm ? After doing this Griffon P.E.( Royal Edition for the Flak-vierling DML) ,I've slowly found out that sometimes, I really just want a .3 ,.5, .8mm drill bit & haven't taken th time to size it up against what I have & take "inventory".

Helps too when your wife is a dental hygienist too! I have two of the sets she had to buy when she was going to school...they work awesome as scribers...and one of the sets came with a nice sharpening stone as well. I'll have to check into these files...they are always replacing tools so there is always something there...

When I was a young kid my dentist gave me about 30 dental packers scribes etc, quite a few of which were broken. I used a grinding wheel and made various shapers and scribes which I still have 40 years or so later. I'm looking forward to the files. Sizes where metric length and then numbered. I got 25mm #25,30,35

Martin, that dental drill is cool, I've been thinking of trading in the dremal for something more powerful and robust. I would hate to hear that sound everytime I model but I guess I could get use to it.

What sort of chuck is on those dental drills? would they accept all the stuff I got to go with the dremal?

Bob, those dental drills accept only 2.35mm bits, as far as I know and the Dremel bits are a bit wider - so I'm afraid no.

I believe there is an adapter chuck.

I took some Evergreen tube the size of the chuck and glued the dental burr in the center and went to grinding.
