No, not given up, just put it back in its box and put it back on the shelf until I felt like giving it another go.

I also have to redo the paint in the cockpit. Unfortunately the paint was messed up after all while stripping the exterior paint. I'm pretty sure I can redo most of it w/ the cockpit assembled, but we'll see. Right now the first goal is to get it all cleaned up, seams filled and everything rescribed.
