Okay guys and gals there are two and a half, almost 3 weeks left to get in on this and or finish. Its to a great cause and will give you that warm and fuzzy feeling for having participated in something good while enjoying your favorite hobby. If you have been thinking about it and dont think you have enough time you can always just donate to the cause. Heck, donate twice :D
Lets give a boy a :mpup and maybe enough left over for some kibbles and bits to keep him/her happy.
Thanks to everyone for helping out.
James

Thanks for the reminder James.

Hey, if you've finished your builds get down in the forum and rally those who haven't made it yet. Let's git'er done!

I'm workin on it, I'm workin on it! :frantic :frantic

About done with the Curly sculpting, shaping, and filling, and almost ready for the primer coat. Then have 3 weekends to get him all painted up sans base. Base has to wait till Moe and Larry are built as they all go together.

Shouldn't be a problem. (famous last words) :facepalm

Trying to make progress on mine but my typical glacial pace, and then running into issues has caused a lot of problems w/ my build. I think I can still get it done, but we'll see.

What I seem to read Here is not so much the fact that We're trying to get Ian a service dog ..... It's the fact that all just want to win a prize ...... Pardon Me for being outspoken Here ..... If Your building a model for this ribbon that's fine ... that means you have given for Ian ... I've been on many fund raisers before ..... the prize & contest is optional ..... it's the contribution to getting Ian a service Dog which He Needs ..... From now on all my posts will have a mention of this fact ...... :eek:ldguy

Ian needs a Buddy :love to help Him :love CTA II :love ..... Send money regardless of the build !!!

Even if you can't finish a kit in time ..... You can give $10 through paypal .... and get Ian a buddy :mpup And you get the ribbon for giving ..... :eek:ldguy

Let us agree to disagree on that. There would have been just as many participants without any prizes involved. What I appreciate is the fact that a lot of people have put a lot of effort into organising the prizes, the campaign, the ribbon and so on.
I'll just say that if I win a prize on this one, I will pay its' right value and the money will go towards the doggy.

Cheers,
Laurence

I knew this would be a difficult message to get across .... I hope I haven't offended you ... Laurence I just was trying to get more people involved .... like me I started a build yesterday for this ribbon, not for the prize but for Ian & to get people involved .... but I contributed over & above the Call of Duty ..... We can do this .... :eek:ldguy

When my Good Buddy of 12 years passed suddenly back in December, I made a donation to honor him. As to trying to finish in time Enh. :side: Not really interested in prizes one way or another. It's about a Special Good Buddy for Ian. :mpup

CTA I and CTA II are not about prizes. They are about sharing and caring while doing the thing we enjoy. CTA I was for Cancer and came about as a way of bolstering the spirits of a member and moderator here and helping the community. Ultimately he died before the final tally and all proceeds went to Australia's Cancer Foundation as that is where he was Australian. That money though would go into research for Cancer cures around the world. CTA II is for Ian for a service dog because they are expensive and it will enrich his life and allow him a life.
Prizes are secondary to the Call To Arms we do. They are icing on the cake so that you not only go away from this with a warm and fuzzy but maybe a prize as well. I haven't met a member yet who has said I will join just because I could win a prize. This is another reason why a ribbon is awarded right off the get go. To show you have helped a friend, even if you don't know them.
As I mentioned you dont have to join in, you could donate money and that would be very appreciated.

So, no I dont believe its because everyone is gunning for a prize, but rather they are giving to a good cause. Of course I could be wrong, but I hope not.

Yes it was a difficult message to get across and I'm sure no harm was intended.

I do not believe that anyone involved in the CTAII is only gunning for a prize, that's just an incentive for participation and a thank you for completing the build.

I really got ya'll stirred up Sorry ..... I wasn't saying anything about the ones who have contributed .... Just trying to get more to join .... and say that you don't have to do a model to get the ribbon and you get a warm & fuzzy feeling for helping Ian get a service dog to help Him ..... I guess since I'm a Cancer survivor I just feel that giving is paramount ..... When I was down & out with the Big C ..... I needed help and there wasn't any ..... I wish just one person would have volunteered to help me get to Dallas and back for the radiation treatments ..... But all my friends & family were way to busy to care ..... So if I stepped on anyone's Toe's forgive me my statement wasn't meant that way ...... :eek:ldguy

Absolutely not a problem Gerry. This is all about a worthy cause, getting people involved and motivated. I am sure that your intentions are as good as mine.

And on top of everything, having different opinions is a healthy environment. If everyone in the choir sang the same note, there would be no harmony.

As far as I am concerned, you have certainly not stepped on my toes. :drinks

I've apologized privately but will also offer a public apology for my comments which probably came across a bit rough. After reading your other threads I see I overreacted. Again sorry.
Now lets get the wagon rolling for a grand finale in 2 and a half weeks time.
James

If you didn't see the newsletter, and if not, why not :smack
