This weekend marked the 147th anniversary of the Civil War battle that took place here in the sleepy town of Chickamauga Georgia. There were re-enactors from all over. The battlefield has been a national military park since the 1890's to honor the over 40,000 Union and Confederate wounded or killed in the three day conflict.
The park has a museum with a top notch collection of Civil War era weapons, artillery, and equipment.
Some pics of the day- A Union artillery group takes a break, The Union battery in action and the Georgia monument guarded by a smoothbore from a Confederate battery.
