CATERPILLAR D7 "ALL DONE"

CATERPILLAR D7

Terry, your cable to the overhead frame is routed improperly. It should go from the drum to the outside of the top sheave, over the top of it then it goes down through a tube that is concentric with the rotating axis of the sheaves, goes under the bottom sheave and then up to the sheave on the overhead frame. You can see that if you look at the photo posted of the tractor that is pulling a scraper.

It can also just run from the drum to the overhead sheave, bypassing the lower sheaves altogether.

Great looking work!

Had to re-rout a cable damn near destroyed the unit in the process. Got most of it back together, but still picking up the pieces.

Terry, yes, you have the tracks on reversed. The chain part is called the rail, the part bolted to that is called a pad, and the bar sticking up from the pad that provides traction is called the grouser. The grouser should be forward when the pads are on top of the undercarriage frame. I have these track, too. Have no idea how to put them together!
