Sort of reverse engineering but not quite.

I'm starting to wish it was ready for paint though but it'll get there eventually .

As ever, you rise to the challenge, Christian- cheers! This really is a magnificent subject for it's sheer odd-ballery. Makes me want to grab up one of those old Planet 1/48 fiberglass monsters- once I've won the lottery, that is. Good luck with that turret ring- I know you'll show it who's boss.

I'd love to find the HML kit, I had it in my Ebay search list forever but they don't pop up very often. After seeing your struggle with this kit I'm not sure I'll ever tackle mine, keep on trucking !

I was just comparing this and the PBY. They were comparible in size. Don't know why but that's very deceiving. It looks like this would be about the size of a Grumman Goose for some reason.

Darn, you caused me a lot of fiddling this morning . This derelict Cat and this clog did not cooperate at all.

The clog is just a bit smaller than the Cat.

However the Goose is closer to a float in comparison . It's only a six passenger plane . :S

And now, you know this Goose is unhappy to go back in the box :fencing

The Gosling, is even smaller than the Goose . Problem solved ?

Yeah but you're only comparing the body to the Goose, add the booms and it's twice as long.

I've seen a PBY flying, seen a Goose more than once, would have loved to seen this BV.

I'm thinking you're saying you don't want to build the 1/72 one.

I did not notice any cursing about the HML version but he did say resin , large , heavy and hand molded which no doubt would make it pricey .

Hello all ! I continue to chisel away at this clog and I have to admit that it's getting closer bit by bit.
I hope no one was in a hurry to see a finished product

I decided to work some more on the exterior fuselage/hull ? details by adding the crew entry hatches for the aft compartments.

I also though the fairings where the tails attached to the booms needed a little something :hmmm

I also decided to attach the fairings going into the engine coolers but soon found out that they would need shims to make them sit correctly .

One would not think this to be a big operation but it took a lot of more filling and sanding than I first thought.

Next on the list, the two piece clear turrets ( ) which did not fit in the forward well , so after enlarging the opening a bit I decided to cut off the lower collar and build a pedestal for it to spin on.

I also closed off the forward compartment with a bulk head since more filling and sanding will be required after the fuselage is closed .

That will allow me to install the finished turret later and hopefully keep the dust out of the cockpit

Last is an update of the two rear compartments with the additions to the kit .

Next up will be some cockpit work and the turrets.
