Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 11/28/12

Thanks Arturius!!!

Frank, thank you for the compliments! I'm looking forward to updates from you too.
Speaking of references, I found one of the best for this project to be the
AFV Modeller Trumpeter Tiger II site...these guys know their stuff.

Moon, don't worry about it, I'll start sending you annoying PM's if I think
I'm being ignored... :D

Andy, glad you like it, hopefully I'll get to painting the figures one day.

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 11/28/12

Hi Guys

Haven't updated for a while, been concentrating on building...

Here's the last pic I took before primer:

With very shaky hands, I was a nervous wreck, I sprayed it with Mr. Surfacer 1000 from a spray can.
I shouldn't have worried, this is excellent stuff, next time Sprue Brothers has it in stock I'm buying
a crap load of it.

One of my favorite areas of the model:

Greetings,Ron.

Any thoughts? Yeah, too many. But I think I will go with the hard edge ambush scheme.
How to do that I'm not sure at the moment.

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 3/2/13 Primer!!

Hi Tom, first of all: great job and really a great build.

I'm anxious too see your interpretation of the hard edge ambush scheme. Tricky to make convincing, but I'm sure you will

deliver !

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 3/2/13 Primer!!

Thanks Frank!

I'm thinking of airbrushing the camo as tightly as possible, then going back and adding
the hard edges with a brush. Seems there are people who believe this is how it was done
at the factory.

I'll be using the AK Interactive German late war color set.

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 3/2/13 Primer!!

I just stumbled on to this.
What a treat!
The scratched styrene details look like they were cnc-milled. I can't cut those small parts with that kind of consistency to save my life.
It's a thing of beauty.
Looking forward to more.

Cheers,

Bill

I can only imagine if you decided to tackle the complete tank... what a treat for a detail obsessed but like me!

Thanks Bill!

A couple of things I've learned on this project:
If you need to drill a small hole in a small part, drill the hole in a big part, then cut it down to size.
And if you need two parts, make ten and pick out the best looking ones.
