Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 4/22/12

Nice attention to detail. Those flanges came out very well. Looking forward to more :popcorn

Thanks Ron!

Thank you James. I must say I'm quite please with the FOURTH attempt at making the flanges.

Cutting round things out of sheet plastic, while eyeballing the dimensions isn't the
easiest thing to do.

Oh yeah...here's my thread.

Still working on this, more scratch building and improving the Tamiya parts than figure painting though.

Added trunions to the exhaust shrouds by drilling through both sides and inserting a rod.

Cut the rods and added welds.

Posts for new tow clevis storage brackets.

Excellent wing nuts by Schumo-Kits.

MA06_17_12-007.jpg

Completed brackets.

MA06_17_12-008.jpg

Beginnings of the fender hinges. These are plastic rods with the ends drilled out.

MA06_17_12-009.jpg

Taped some plastic strips on to keep the hinges nice and straight.

I tack glued a plastic strip here, to simulate a missing hinge, you'll see how it came out later.

MA06_17_12-013.jpg

Starting on brackets to hold the jack block.

MA06_17_12-014.jpg

And more brackets.

MA06_17_12-015.jpg

The brackets in place. Here you can see the "missing" hinge. I added a weld, then popped off the
strip I had tack glued. A little vaseline around the strip kept the putty weld from sticking to it.

More jack block brackets...

MA06_17_12-017.jpg

Strip stock taped on to help locate the brackets and keep them straight.

MA06_17_12-018.jpg

The brackets glued in place.

MA06_17_12-019.jpg

And plastic strips removed.

The tail light and bracket.

The exhaust pipe are not glued yet, I'll leave loose to make painting easier.

That's it for now, thanks for looking,

This makes me wish you tackled the complete tank!

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 06/17/12

Another update!

After much debate with myself I decided there just had to be something to see if you looked
through the grills on the rear deck.

So I set about scratch building some fans and shutter boxes. Here are the results...
