An unlikely escort

This is brilliant! Sensational work here!

I know it might be tough to predict the trajectory of some of the enemy rounds, but some interior damage should be shown too; unless it's not possible after the fuselage is closed. If so, disregard my ramblings. I am so thrilled to be following this Thread!

Thanks a lot!
I've begun wrecking the flip side, now with a lot of the interior in place I may be able to determine trajectories and such. I've decided to locate some fairly large entry wounds down low on the right side with the thought that these would be large caliber shot that tear the roof on the radio room/turtle deck the fin has also been thinned (dangerously in my case due to klutziness) with the eventual tear out of a couple of chunks of the leading edge (some internal structure will be needed to be scratched together there and on the radio room/turtle deck roof. I'm thinking both roof windows should be removed. (eventually)

Nice! Are you going to thin the plastic on the inside to make it look like sheet metal? Gary S. XXXXV XX XX

work...work? progresses, slowly yes.
I've managed to destroy, at least badly damage, the vertical stabilizer. I've thinned the skin in the area so much the internal ribs are visible through the plastic. Primer and paint should fix that?

Hi folks
Thanks for the encouragement!
I've done a bit of gizmology, adding a few wiring harnesses along the fuselage walls and finally bit the bullet and closed up the fuselage. In typical HK Models fashion the fuselage fit was perfect (even with a few hundred holes in it!) I procrastinated over this step off and on all day finally deciding to just get on with it! so here...without further ado, the one, always epic step; the closed fuselage. (seams still needing work)

on to the next step now I suppose.

Thanks for looking in on me
I set the fuselage assembly aside in order to tackle the destroyed left side stabilizer. Here's what I came up with;

there's still work to do to make it look battle damaged/ ripped and torn, I'm making some "representative" internal structure from 10 thou sheet plastic, I'll add stringers from plastruct later to make the rip/ break look more convincing

Thanks guys!
I'm still having a hard time destroying this kit...and wondering how I'll dust it in the future!
I've gotten the left stab. to a point I am happy with, a better modeller could do better I know.
I painted the part with Vallejo aluminum and will, at some point, weather it with chipping medium and washes.

temporarily fitted to get an idea of the effect.

Dust it with canned air? I think it's a great job so far, anyone can build one out of the box. :D (y)

Good idea!
I was looking at the stab. thinking it just didn't look right...Another fellow agreed and suggested some tears in the plastic. I went the other way and added tears in some printing press tin, scribed a panel line in it and used pva glue to attach to the stab. I can flow some Mr. Surfacer on the join when it's dry and I think it does look more prototypical.
