Amazing factory photos from the 40's

all the pics say kodachrome- and all were taken in America- i'm sure there has been some retouching but i'm not a developer! That B-17 interior shot was my favorite.

The thing you really notice is how they are made to look like action shots but must have taken ages to set up. The lighting is excellent and i am sure the inside of a B17 was not lit like that in a factory. Light has been arranged to fall on faces etc. Very clever stuff, :) I had no idea American women got dressed in their Sunday best with bows in their hair and immaculate make up to go to work in factories :)

Paddy you know how women are!

Chip I wouldn't be too sure they have been retouched, my Dad has color photos that are just as vibrant and he developed them himself. I'm sure Kodack labs would have been better at it than he was.

Also notice that ZC is not everywhere inside the aircraft.

I have a friend who is a WW2 / Civil War history nut and his older sister is a photographer for the Richmond Post Dispatch- he has tons of WW2 pics he's collected over the years and he told me he has heard of stuff like this, but has never seen it.
I take your word on your dad's collection! its amazing either way.

Great pictures!! Kinda makes the war a little more real when you see it in color. I have a book that covers aircraft manufacturing during the war and I has a lot of the same photo's in it plus many more.

Thanks for sharing.
