All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

It rains it pours huh Mark. Hope y'all are safe from the mudslides and stuff.

Yeah it does, and frankly, I'm glad we're getting this rain! My condo is fine; we are at the top of a small hill and sitting on a slab of granite so we ain't going nowhere. I prayed for three days of good, hard rain and God answers prayers! What a great birthday present for me!

Thanks all for the great birthday wishes too. I appreciate them.

Party at Mark's house!!! :drinks :drinks :drinks

Better yet, party at Hobby Day Friday on the seventh of March; I'll be cooking steaks for everyone. My house is a Federal Disaster Area; I'm just waiting for the FEMA check!

Just got back from ValleyCon in Pasadena- great show! Duke Maddog took a gold with his 1/72 Dora, and I scored one with my Me509. Modelers' Alliance represent!

Thanks Mats, it was a fantastic weekend! I picked up a lot of good birthday presents at the Valleycon show, and also placed First with my Dora. Pics are forthcoming; I have to get everything processed first. Chuck and I didn't get a pic together; there was so much going on, but he did wear his Modeler's Alliance bowling shirt very prominently. I also was not able to get a pic of his Me-509 with his award, but I do have one of my Dora posing with her award.

Man, we need to set up a Modeler's Alliance Trophy Case here; with so many Master Modelers taking awards; we really should put one in the hall for everyone to see.

Well did some modeling and some research and I gave in to the urge to buy a plane. Not a P-47 though. I ordered the new Meteor F.4. Supposed to be a mod coming soon to make it a F.3 which Canada used, and a F.8, again one that Canada flew. Now to think about going to work.

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

It is a 4 letter word that is used to explain away stress, frustration, tiredness, and a momentary influx of funds followed by a decrease in funds as the bank and others transfer it to their pockets. It also takes up far too much bench time :D

Okay, you wanted pics? Well, I only have the one. Here is Dora after she took First Place in the "1/72 Scale Armor All Types" category at the Pasadena Valleycon:

Notice how I included someone else's car and truck for a size reference in this pic.

That win felt good, especially since this contest was held the day after my birthday! Happy Birthday to me! :woohoo: :yipee :D

Thanks all for looking in!

Your Dora remains to be mighty impressive,Mark!
Good idea to have carrying handles on the base.

Greetings,Ron.

Today is a busy day of applying for jobs. As well as doing some research on Military plane wrecks in the area. Kind of hit a gold mine with that lastnight actually. I've been doing quite a bit of research for the past few years on a lake in southern Oregon. Everybody kept telling me nothing was left out there but yesterday I found these two pages. http://aircraftwrecks.com/pages/fm-1%20fm-2.htm http://aircraftwrecks.com/pages/sbw-4e.htm I was able to get the contact information for several people and now it's time to make some new contacts :geek You will notice that the Helldiver still has an intact gun in the wing. Doubt that is there now though.

Thanks guys for the congrats! I appreciate it! MP, it was one of the best birthdays ever and I'm glad Chuck was a part of it.

Very nice Dora. What are the car and truck models of?

Cheers from Peter

The car is a Kubelwagen and the truck is an Opel Blitz. Both are in 1/72 scale too. A friend of mine built those.

Thanks for the compliment Ron! Yeah, those carrying handles actually help me lift the base back in the wooden box that I carry Dora in. I lift her off the tracks first, place the base in the box, add Dora back to the base and then replace all the foam padding that keeps her from moving inside the box. It is a very effective carrying method.

nerdling, good luck on the job hunt. That is cool knowing that something is out there in southern Oregon too. Nice job on the research.
