AFV 1/48 Sturmtiger

Well thank you all gentlemen :D .

Just a small update, as I was planning on painting the bottom and wheels up, just to break the monotony of tracks and zimmerit I started with cleaning up the drive sprockets, so far these are the worst moulded parts of the kit, mould seems sink holes and flash, and the spokes flare out on the inside as well.........probably sounds a lot worse then it is, but still a pain in the keester to clean up. I'm just going to ignore the sink marks as they can easily be covered up with a bit of muck and goo.

The fit is excellent though and once they are cleaned up they look good.

A test fit of the sprockets to the chassis reveals another issue, the suspension swing arm interferes with the sprocket on the right side.

by the looks of things suspension arm will have to be trimmed back a bit, but I'll wait and attache the road wheels and check things for alignment before I get carried away. The left side is all clear and good

Wait till you can check the roadwheels track alignment, could be you just need to put a small spacer on the axle of the sprocket.

K, got the tracks together. So running off with another zimerrit avoidance tactic I decided to paint the wheels...and the bottom of the tank. For Primer red I've been using Floquils RR colour Box car red as a "close 'nough" colour. This time around I decided to try out Vallejo's Model air 71.025 Dark yellow, but I'm not so sure about it, it looks a lot like Tamiya's XF-60 Dark yellow.

So before I go to far I'd just like to get some suggestions as to what might be an appropriate paint match for the Tiger/Sturmtiger. I have looked around a bit and apparently there were a few different shades and all the usual affects, but just to come close what and whose paint would be a good starting point and getting a reasonable match to what it most likely would have been.

Here's a few I've built and painted, the fuel truck I used Model Colour 70824 German Camo orange ochre, for the Hummel I used Humbrol 94, and on the king Tiger I've been playing with adding a bit of yellow ochre to the orange ochre

Dark Yellow is what i'm going with on the Panther, can't say about the Sturm but I suspect it's a safe bet.
