Hi friends,Today we took a little trip to the city of AACHEN in Germany.
And I thought,I could share the pics with you...
Aachen was the first major German city that fell in hands of US troops in 1944.
During the battle for it,some parts were heavyly damaged while other parts survived the war in good to reasonable conditions.
The city has a long history and was the residence of the emperor CHARLEMAGNE.
Ok,lets have a look;
The Aachener Dom,pretty hard to take a picture of,because the surrounding buildings are just too close to it.
Just one pic from the inside of it,you have to pay if you wanna take pics from the inside,so we took just one when the guard wasn't looking.
You got to take my word for it that the inside is really fantastic with a lot of leavegold on walls and ceillings.
The cityhall[RATHAUS]
KARL der Grosse[CHARLEMAGNE]stands in front of cityhall.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=charlemagne&source=web&cd=6&ved=0CFwQFjAF&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fhistory%2Fhistoric_figures%2Fcharlemagne.shtml&ei=X7sXT9fbAsOM-wajrNW5Cg&usg=AFQjCNHKe0eLmNpC8e6vcSyGkNtFQTIkyA
part of the market;
Many old buildings don't seem to have seen a war...
Lots of people come to shop in Aachen.Maybe because of the fantastic windows.
Have a look at the Marschiertor...
Here's a model of the DOM,standing besides the real thing.
Almost forgot CHARLEMAGNE's crownjewels... :woohoo:
Ofcourse I found a modelshop,...this is what I got myself...
Might be usefull for the COLDSTEEL campaign!
...and some lasercut plants for another dio I am planning...
That's it for now!
Greetings,Ron.
