1/72 CF-188 Hornet - Operation Friction 1990-1991

Finally got the goodies in. Delivered directly from Aviationmegastore, including a few pilots for a Diorama, 2 paveway GBU-10 and all the PE you can get. I will not be Assembling the Revell model but instead the Academy one, which is already an F-18A.

I am hoping to start tomorrow the latest.

Cheers

Alex

During Op Friction our CF188's did not carry PGM's. Most of the time in the Gulf was spent on CAP/Sweep/Escort missions so were configured for Air-to-Air with AIM-9's and AIM-7's. Only near the end of the war did we take on a bombing role using mostly Mk 82's. PGM's were introduced into Canadian service in 1994-95.

Cheers,
Rich

Hi Rich

Many thanks for your Observation. I did not know that. I had seen Pictures of the CF-188 in the Gulf war but as you mentioned only with AA Missiles.

So this one won't have the PGM but I will still use them in the Diorama. After all, the bases were shared, rigth?

Thanks again for the Input.

Alex

Hello all

I am beginning the work on the CF-188 tonight. After much searching I did find another photo I took myself in St. Hubert in 1993, whilst I was an intern in Montreal. Should give me some pointers as well.

And here you see why I enjoyed Canada so much ;)

Hello again

Finally some Progress. I got some work done on the Cockpit. That was a lot of PE! Still, all good so far. Remember, it is all 1/72

Hello again

This Weekend has been very busy in the Hospital, so I did not have enough bench time. :vmad

Still, some Progress putting the PE in place. The seat is ready, so the main gear bays. Some Details on the Cockpit as well. I guess all good so far.

Cheers

Alex

Now on to priming (I am using that Alclad Black Primer) and painting.

Thanks everyone

I will post until the end because I do not like to run from a difficult Situation but it is also turning out a Piece of sh*t. Nothing would fit!!!! It was a nightmare to get the kit together, somehow the Eduard guys made it almost impossible.

In any case, this is the Progress now. All glossy before decals.

Happy Holidays everyone

Alex
