1/700 Motor Vessel Steyning (sort of!)

Just catching up here for the last couple of weeks....Wow what fantastic results. I take my hat off to you for taking your hobby off in a different direction from the main stream and producing originality. I love to see people taking a 5/10 model and producing 10/10 results but you dont even start with 5/10 and you still end up with 10-/10

So you're going to have a little 1:700 Indy running around the deck trying to hide?

Indy climbing up the limber holes on the U-Boat would be authentic. "I found Jones, Captain!" Then I hafta do all the guys on Bantu Wind as well. 2 or more vehicles, more than 5 figures, shows action or tells a story, makes the project a diorama.

The 'Other U-Boat" Type IX is coming along. I used Tom's Modelworks Axis Submarine P/E and it is a closely packed fret!
It vexes me that the bow net cutter was 2 parts. The mounting frame was no end of fun to install, and the fine, thin brass etchings bend rather easily. This bit will not be installed on U-26 as my kit will not include many P/E parts.

She painted up fairly well. There's a cool 37mm cannon shield on the p/e, but there isn't space for a 37 on the kit after gun mount. A pair of p/e 20mm guns will have to do for U-Dasweissichnicht. The Hasegawa 1/700 U-Boat kit is a vintage tooling, but stands up well against today's DKM model issues.
Boomers and rain here today. Soggy Sundays are good for model making!

Perhaps the smaller of the 2 32' Barrelback Runabouts will come in the kit? A tiny, wild, blonde, German scientist at her helm?

Bantu Wind was registered as a Nigerian vessel, but she was Egyptian flagged for the movie. The Egyptian flag changed in 1958, so I found and printed the accurate 1930's national ensign. The DKM flags for U-26 may not be popular in Germany. They have that naughty symbol on them. At that, U-Boats preparing to submerge bring in their flags, so none was really ever necessary.

Listen, if you buy an off-the-wall model ship kit, don't you want the correct flags?

LPP contents of TLAR Models Kit 726. The cartoon Chris Craft Egg boat and regular triple cockpit boats are included. In a running change, different (narrower) P/E ladders will go in the kit.
