Pocher Original Mercedes Kit For Sale Or Trade

UK modeller wishes to dispose of an original Pocher Mercedes kit and some assorted Pocher Rolls parts.
The Mercedes kit was acquired second hand about 20 odd years ago. Wire wheels have already been built and the dashboard built up, otherwise the rest unbuilt as far as I can see. The kit may need small screws for replacements.

Along with the Mercedes an array of odd parts from a Pocher Rolls was also acquired. As far as I know from memory the Rolls 'Bitsa' as I call it consists of a full chassis that has been assembled. The engine, fuel tank, trsnsmission, and other underpinnings are loose kit parts. An original Pocher Rolls Radiator (made from brass and plated) with mascot and headlamps. There is a floor, firewall and bonnet panels as loose bits, plus a set of 5 wire wheels that have already been assembled. So maybe the basis for a semi scratch build by an experienced model maker who could build a body for it.

Open to offers but unfortunately due to size, weight, packing and shipping costs this will have to be a UK sale only where the buyer can inspect and collect. Location Mid Bedfordshire.

I actually have unbuilt both of those in my stash. Sold off a number of the others a few years ago and paid off some bills. I have 3 unbuilt and one built that I am not all that taken with.

Would it be rude if i said how much do you want, "NOT" to send it to me :)

Seriously i get why people would like these kits but to me they are a little too close to meccano and a little to far away from actual models.

@paddy Paddy is right. They have a lot of decent detail in many areas, but to do the mechanical linkages and such they used a lot of sheet metal parts. There is one (maybe more) place that does a lot of quality AM improvement parts for these, but those will about double the cost. You do get a vastly improved build though.
I have also seen where some people use these as basic starter points to build specific models of specific cars, which then sell for lots of $$. Get out of it what you put into it I guess.

Those old Pochers classics.
Well, describing them as being like Meccano is a bit off the mark. I would describe them as being big plastic kits that lack fidelity and are now really showing their age. One must remember that they were produced between the 60's and 80's. However, the basics are there, and in the hands of very experienced car model builders can be made into highly detailed replicas.

I dont dispute anything you say but there are much better starting points for a quarter of the price or less.
I only had a go at one and the problem i had was so much of the basics were wrong from the engine block to the gearbox and even the fact they went great lengths to to give it mechanical brakes when they should have been hydrolic .. the italeri 1/12 models are a better starting point

Totally agree Paddy.
I have the Italeri Bugatti to build when I finish my current project and it looks to be a very nice kit. Far more affordable for me than those MFH kits that I have to say are fantastic models when built up well. MFH do have some superb subjects in their ranges. I was looking at their T35 when the Italeri one popped up! I like the job you did on yours with that very nice complimentary base you built for it.
My Italeri Bug is far better than those old Pochers I have languishing in my workshop. Hornby has a display room with all the older Pochers built up at Margate. Pure memory lane nostalgia I guess as they have absolutely no intention of ever re making them. I would think that much of the old tooling is either knackered or long gone anyway.
Personally, I prefer 1/12th scale generally.
Although having said that, I could be very tempted by that 1/8th scale IXO metal kit of the Rothchild Bugatti Atlantic Coupe! The old Pocher 1/8th scale Bugatti now goes for ridiculous money on Ebay and is the only one that I would really like to actually build from those older kits. Unless someone comes up with a restoration project at a very affordable price I'll probably never get to build one.

You can still pick up a pocher cheap if you follow the auctions. I paid £200 for the Rolls i gave up on and i have and alfa 8c i paid £120 + commision etc for . Leave a search on "easy live auction"
You are welcome to the rolls i have FOC if you cover the postage, i bought it half built, stripped it back to parts and have half built it again, its all there
